I'm from Utah in the United States originally, but presently living in Georgia.I write exclusively dystopian and post-apocalypse stories, but my favorite of all time is The Wheel of Time. I have read and listened to that a dozen times already.
I got interested in writing dystopian/PA novels while living in Beijing. I just couldn't help but wonder, what would happen in a city like Beijing (or, as it's gradually becoming, Jing Jin Ji) following an apocalyptic event? This became the seed from which "The Norcom Union" grew.
I can't pin myself down to one way of life, and therefore have a hard time fitting into any particular group. I write, I teach, I am a "Great Collapse" prepper, an outdoors enthusiast, I've lived in several countries long-term, and on and on. It's hard to nail me down.
I would probably survive the apocalypse I wrote about, but I probably wouldn't survive the hyper-authoritarian Union.

Hello Nicholas! You are welcome to put your links/promotions in the Author/Publisher promotional area. Here is a link to there: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
The introductions are just for getting to know people, etc. We don't use this area to promote. :)

No problem--Good luck with your writing! I'm doubting I'd survive any type of Apocalypse, personally...

@Katrina @Alan @LTJ @Erin Thanks for the welcome! It's been eons since I've joined a forum, it'll take time to get back into the swing of things.
@King: Welcome and very cool you're a fellow Constant Reader! A pleasure to meet you as I bring some virtual iced lattes for our future discussions on all things horror :-D
Hi! My name is Lauren, and I have loved horror stuff for as long as I can remember. I used to think of it as something embarrassing that made me weird, as people seemed to be really turned off by it. In fact, I was persona non grata at a "female authors only" book club after I suggested "Zombie" by Joyce Carol Oates. Everyone gave up reading about a quarter of the way through, and I was no longer taken seriously for book suggestions. Oh well! I have come to embrace my love of horror, and I am looking for my people. My favorite horror book I've read this year is "Greener Pastures" by Michael Wehunt! Sorry for a super long intro. I'm looking forward to talking books with you all :)
Welcome Lauren! Don't worry, we're all horror maniacs here, and you're definitely in the right place :)
@Lauren: Welcome and very awesome! Wow, you brought me back, I remember classmates saying EXACTLY that to me while growing up because they read Babysitter's Club or Nancy Drew and I'm the only one reading Goosebumps being called weird and all sorts of nonsense. It's ironic how as we get older, the tables have turned and now they come to us for horror recommendations :-DI've never read that book by Wehunt but have made note of it, thanks for that and looking forward to future discussions with you!
Hi, I'm Cassandra. Currently in my 30's, I've been reading horror since I was a wee child started of course with the goosebumps series. The last two book I read were 'Tick Tock' by Dean Koontz & 'Graveyard Apartment' by Mariko Koike. In happy to be here and check out what everyone reads. (◕‿◕✿)
Hi! I'm Kathy and living in FL. I enjoy horror/thriller books more than horror movies. I'm happy to have found this group!
@Cassandra: Welcome and very awesome! Glad you're here and enjoy some virtual iced cappuccinos and oatmeal raisin cookies :-D
@angel: Welcome and that's pretty cool as I'm the same way! I also balance my horror fix with mystery novels :-)So glad you found this group, it's an amazing one!
Hi there - Long time reader that somewhat fell out of the habit and trying to fall back into the habit. I grew up with horror - literally - my family are big horror fans and my first movie in the theater was horror but I don't remember what I was only a baby. I am mostly a reader of fantasy and sci-fi mixes but I am a big fan of dark fiction/fantasy and weird fiction/horror. But I'll read almost anything and genre/sub genre.
