@Heather: Welcome and very awesome! The same thing happened to me when I went almost a decade without reading and picked it up again back in July 2021. I've been loving it ever since as this group is amazing! I found so many new authors and novels, it's made my horror heart happy :-D

Hello, all. I've been lurking in your discussions for a long time. I finally decided to come out of the shadows as there have been a few discussions I've wanted to join in. I started reading horror in the way-back with writers like Robert Bloch. My current sweet spot is horror of the cosmic / WTF-is-happening type, but I'm open to anything.
Hi, I'm James, a programmer from South Africa, I read most evenings and try to switch between books that are in and out of my comfort zone. For horror I generally like modern takes on lovecraftian horror, all that cosmic wtf-ness and fantastical horror. Not a big fan of period pieces set in the 1800s etc. Glad to be here and see what everyone else is reading. Cheers!
@Whitney: Welcome and grab a virtual iced coffee as I'm glad you came out of the shadows to join us! That's so awesome and happy you're here :-D
@James: Welcome and very awesome! You came to the right place, so many great recommendations here :-D
I'm Autumn and I've read and watched many types of horror. Lately I've been getting really into the extreme horror scene (book wise at least). Horror to me is one of the best genre's because you see the most variety in character development and human emotion. Note: I love the Saw franchise so much that I've written 2 college papers on the psychological and sociological themes of criminal reform and redemption. I would love to be involved in in-depth horror discussions of deeper themes and character analysis.
@Autumn: Welcome and very awesome! LoL yeah, I've dabbled a bit into extreme horror with WOOM and Dead Inside... just insane stuff. I don't mind it every now and then as I completely agree, I love horror due to all the variety, unique subgenres, and just the sheer terror!WOW!!! LoL I also LOVE the SAW franchise and the deeper meaning behind it. By any chance are those two college papers you wrote about it online? If so, I'd love to read them! If not, no worries, that just sounds so cool and interesting to me :-)
Hi, everyone. My name is Emmie, but I go by Em for short. I am from Minnesota and am new to Goodreads (still trying to learn my way around). I grew up on a lot of the classic horror authors (Lovecraft, Herbert, King, Barker, etc.) being read aloud by my parents, so I have them to thank for starting that great interest....and for my continued obsession with those books, horror movies, and Halloween. It will be great to hear about some new authors to explore too since I feel like I have no idea where to start on finding some new, upcoming favorites. Christopher Buehlman has been my most recent find and I have loved experiencing more of his works. I look forward to chatting with all of you, it sounds like a great group :)

Thanks, everyone, what a welcoming group! Autumn, I would also love to read your papers. Extreme isn't my typical go-to, so I love hearing views on the deeper themes and meaning. Who are your favorite extreme writers? I've enjoyed books by Jack Ketchum and C.V. Hunt, but felt like I needed a long recovery time afterwards.

Hey everyone, I’m late to the game. I’m Jonathan Davis. I’m a horror writer and artist. I also love the genre. Anything from movies to books to comics. I have four novels out right now with more on the way. It’s good to meet all you other horror fans.
Hello all, I've been a long time member but am just now getting back into the app to hopefully check out some new and good horror books :) I'm Jarrett btw
