Hey Franziska. I like some SF as well. I got into reading SF years ago when one of my army colonels gave me the Battle Circle Trilogy by Piers Anthony. Good stuff. Welcome to the group.
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to further discussions and cannot wait to learn about amazing books that I did not know existed.

Welcome to the group."Then maybe you should try "Leech", it takes place in a post apocalyptic SF setting, with lots of gothic motifs and a unique approach to parasites (it's from the POV of a hive-mind parasite fighting another parasite).
And thanks for the welcome @all
Looking forward to reading with you :)

Hello and welcome!
Hi everyone, I'm Tyron.I feel as if I've been searching for a decent book club for ages and I think I've finally found it. My entry into the world of horror literature began when I was a teenager with Stephen King. In the following years I branched off to Edgar Allan Poe, as well as many other more contemporary authors. Lately I've been obsessed with cosmic horror. H.P. Lovecraft is by far my favourite (obviously), but I also enjoy Robert Bloch and C. Hall Thompson.
@Franziska: Welcome and very awesome! I've never read Leech before and am now interested! That's pretty cool you're trying to find which horror sub-genres there are as I know that takes time. I love this group thanks to all the monthly group reads, new books/authors to find, and yeah, hopefully, you'll some great ones through here :-)
@Tyron: Welcome and I'm telling you, THIS IS THE BOOK CLUB! LoL welcome and enjoy, this group rocks :-)

Hey Tyron and welcome! I also cut my horror teeth on Stephen King books. My mom's collection, to be exact. 😂 You're in great company here. I look forward to seeing you around the group pages and GR!
Hello, I’m Nikki. I listened to podcasts while at my 8-5 job to stay focused but felt I may as well accomplish something if I’m going to be listening to something all that time. I’m a reader (at heart, but hadn’t really read in quite some time) and love that feeling of being so immersed in a book that when someone comes into the room, says something when it’s been quiet for a while, or opens a door unexpectedly, I jump. When I was younger I thought I was actually scared of scary movies, books, etc but my husband made me realize that I love the feeling of my heart pounding, my senses being heightened, and pulling my feet up off the floor and pulling them close to my body so the demons/foot monsters/creatures don’t get me (apparently one of my tells when we watch a movie and I’m 😱 😅). I’m on the hunt for a book that can make me feel this way. I recently read Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky and it had some moments but never quite got there for me. the Whisper Man by Alex North was pretty good, I liked The Exorcist’s House by Nick Roberts. I love stories that have demon/possession, ghosts, hauntings, murder, plot twists, misdirection, I don’t love a lot of gore but will still read a book with some (it just doesn’t add anything for me). So glad I joined this app and found some like minded people who don’t make me feel like a weirdo for loving horror. 🧟♀️ Feel free to add me on here.
Hey Nikki! Welcome! My recommend for a good haunting book is Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. It's downright spooky without a lot of gore. I remember one scene in particular that spooked me so much, I practically threw the book across the room! And I don't spook that easily! Haha. Happy reading and I look forward to seeing you around the pages of the group and GR!
Nikki: Welcome and wow, that's pretty cool! LoL yeah, that was me with The Exorcist back when I was 11 years old watching it in its entirety on Halloween night. Every little noise scared the hell out of me so I know exactly what you mean :-)I loved "Come Closer" by Sara Gran which is a demon possession novel, it was insanely good and super creepy if I had to recommend one. Excited to discuss books with you and don't forget to grab a virtual iced macchiato and chocolate chip cookies to the left!

@Theresa: LoL I did move them to keep things fresh and whenever new members join this wonderful group, it's a fun new virtual experience every single time.I haven't even mentioned pancakes yet...

Hello everyone! I'm a huge horror fan. I grew up reading King and Barker and they inspired me to write a book of my own. Just getting into being a published author and I love it. If you are into really dark horror then you may want to give it a shot.
