Hi everybody! I'm not new on GR but new in this group. I'm an avid reader but sometimes my focus is on horror, then on literature, then on police procedurals and so on. I began reading horror when I was 12 and my father got a book by Edgar Allen Poe from the library. I just loved it and still do.
Of course I've read a lot of 'golden oldies' as Ambrose Bierce and so on. My absolute favourite horror author at the moment is Bentley Little, because he's very good in turning normal things like writing letters in something horrific. I'm always open to suggestions!
@Jannelies: Welcome and wow, that's so awesome you started to read horror at the age of 12! I remember reading Poe as a teenager and thought his content was so eerie. You'll find a ton of suggestions in this group as I look forward to future discussions with you :-)
Hello all, newbie to the group & GR as a whole. I’ve always been a huge horror nerd, it’s basically all I watch. I’ve always been a (horror) comic nerd as well. I’m also a psychology nerd and a psychology undergrad, so when I need a break from textbooks & nonfiction the most frightening & gory horror I can find is a good palate cleanser. (Plz don’t analyze me & I won’t do the same, I promise.) I used to only do audiobooks and comics because I didn’t think my attention span could handle books without pictures, but I’ve actually polished off about 4 REAL books in the last few weeks, which is pretty huge for me. I would like to keep the momentum going, so I’m here for recommendations & camaraderie. Thanks for having me. 😸
@Phrique: Welcome and glad to meet another fellow horror nerd! LoL you've come to to right place and can't wait to chat with you about this genre we love so much :-)
Hello! Decided to join what is obviously a very active Group, because my Horror reading rate has gone way up lately, thanks mainly to the reading guide I recently committed to - 150 Exquisite Horror Books by Alessandro Manzetti and a ton of other contributors. Picks I've made from this guide have gone incredibly well, and it will help me get to know a huge weak spot I've had for a while: Horror from the last ten years or so. I tend to read farther back than that - or, I did, until recently.

@Two Envelopers And A Phone: Greetings and welcome! LoL first off, I love your name and am excited you're jumping back into horror. You picked the right place :-D
Hi Everyone! I'm new to Goodreads and recently found this group to join. I used to read (a lot) when I was younger but then fell off ever since college. As of the beginning of the year, I decided to delve back in and when I found Goodreads and this group, it really motivated me. My tastes have not changed much from when I was younger, though back then it was a ton of RL Stine and Christopher Pike, but I was also into Stephen King because I remember my favorite book for a long time was It. I love to be scared by haunted houses, people, places, things, etc. Thrillers are ok but don't really scare me.
Anyhow, happy to be here and ready to read all of your recs, reviews, and lists!
@Indra: Welcome, my friend! We have virtual iced coffees and blueberry scones to the left as I'm excited to see you join this group. It's an amazing one and wow, same here! I used to read a lot while in high school/early college but then got bored of it (mainly reading the wrong genre/no horror at all!) and just never got into it for a very long time.Fast forward to late last summer and I'm loving reading again! Oh yes, those legendary RL Stine novels, I also grew up with Goosebumps, King, and Dean Koontz! Looking forward to future discussions with you :-)
@Mihika thank you!@LTJ omg yes and don't forget about the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series! Actually, I have tattoo of one of Stephen Gammell's illustrations from one of those books.

Interesting, I have seen a few thrillers that people were scared of.
@Indra: YES!!! LoL wow, that brought me back with Scary Stories to tell in the dark and wow, awesome idea for a tattoo!

cool, which illustration? Great stories. It was surprising some places banned those books.
It was taken off a body so it was the embalming fluids that seeped into her while dancing that killed her.
Hello, my name is Kevin and I've been a fan of horror for many years. I am also an illustrator and editor and have done work for Scary Monsters magazine among others. Looking forward to finding some new favorite books.
Hi all new to this group but not to GoodReads, I used to read a lot when I was a kid-teen, then I had something happen, depression set in and I couldn't focus to read, so now I am starting to read again and my TBR pile is huge, I love everything from Stephen King to Nora Roberts, and Philipa Gregory, as well as books on disasters, female spies of WW2 as well as many other genres. I am also part of the Book of The Month Club.
