Oh my goodness! I love the music. So much that I collect horror scores. I almost prefer to listen to scores over popular music nowadays.
@KDL: Welcome and that's so awesome you're a horror scholar and are working towards your PhD, good luck with all that! Looking forward to future discussions with you :-)

Welcome!! Same honestly, movie scores have been my favorite since I was a little kid :)

I read (or listen to) & watch a lot of horror & need a place to chat about it. I'm a big fan of Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz (mostly the speculative stuff). I watch Eli Roth's History of Horror & stop to watch movies featured in it (The Witch, The Gift). I'm also a fan of Zombie stuff. I read every issue of The Walking Dead & have seen a great many movies & shows, but my 1st horror love was vampires. I have seen & read even more of those.
@Ian: Welcome and awesome as you've come to the best place! Lots to chat about and an amazing list of authors as it's much the same here. Looking forward to chatting with you about the books we love :-)
@Alan, @Char, @Kasia, and @Alan:Thanks so much! I'm really excited to be here amongst fellow horror fans! :)
Hi everyone! I'm an off-and-on reader. I've been away from books for a while, but I'm getting back into the habit. I enjoy reading books that tend to be on the dark side - horror/thriller/mystery/crime/scifi. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King (of course), Patricia Highsmith, Caroline Kepnes, Natsuo Kirino, and Paul Tremblay. I'm here to see what other people are reading and recommending.
@Cindy: Welcome and awesome, same here! I was an on/off reader until late last summer and got back into being an avid reader again. You came to the right place!
Thanks, LTJ! LTJ wrote: "@Cindy: Welcome and awesome, same here! I was an on/off reader until late last summer and got back into being an avid reader again. You came to the right place!"

My name is Khara and I am a horror scholar and film and television critic. I'm currently working towards my PhD in Mass Communication and Media Arts. I work full time at a university press as a production editor.
I would say that 90% of my "for fun" reading (I also do a lot of research reading) is horror; I wouldn't say I exclusively read horror, but it's close.
Feel free to friend me on here. I'm always looking for new horror books to read, horror movies to watch, and people to talk about horror with!
