Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
@Luke: Welcome and that's pretty awesome! I also grew up with King and those legendary Goosebumps books as a kid. What kind of RPGs do you like?
The original dawn of the dead is a master piece. The best kill without a doubt is the blood pressure guy!
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!I seem to remember enjoying “say cheese & die” from the Goosebump series-my collection was far from complete but they were hugely anticipated when birthdays/Christmas came around.
As for RPGs-D&D, Call of Cthulhu & Symbaroum. I did just pick up Monster of the Week to satisfy all the Buffy/genre tv tropes!
Nice RPG choices! I mostly play Magic The Gathering: Arena these days as I'm bored with the current state of gaming (CoD is boring, BF2042 flopped, no innovation these days!) but am hoping something fun and new comes out soon :-)
I have played some MTG in the past, never been much of a local scene here though. Online gaming-I’m terrible. I do have a PS4 but it’s rarely used, when it comes to playing a game it’s like I’m missing fingers haha

I love CoC and D&D. Sadly I have no one to play with anymore.

Have you played online? Discord/zoom etc. It’s not really for me, I prefer in person but it got my group through the pandemic with our sanity intact
@DM: LoL yeah, I do love FPS games but eh, sometimes I just want to chill and relax when gaming, not having a super sweaty match against kids that spend 20 hours a day practicing, you know? That's why I love MTG: Arena, it's just 1v1 deck vs deck fun, quick matches, nothing that requires perfectly made shots or annoying puzzles :-)I used to go to Magic tournaments while growing up, the real paper tournaments. I miss those but MTG: Arena is the next best thing!
I everyone. I am from Chile. I have been around here for a while and sometimes I have picked up some from this group. I am a member of another HA group in spanish (Macabros). also in GR.I love horror books, (I am actually reading The house of Leaves (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...). Really, really good, those few books that give you goose bumps.
I will read this month book (Dead silence).
See you around.
Ricardo
Welcome, Ricardo! You'll love it here, we have virtual coffee so you can sit back, drink, and read with us all :-)
Hello everyone,I am from Serbia and I am huuuge horror fan. I like both horror literature and movies and also metal music which is many ways connected to this genre.
Some of my favourite books are "The Only Good Indians" by Stephen Graham Jones and (of course) "Dracula" by Bram Stoker.
Plans for future reading:
- "Manhunt" by Gretchen Felker-Martin (seams like originally wierd story that could be interesting)
- "Dead Scilence" by S.A.Barnes ( It is described like mixture of Titanic and SciFi Horror - it can't be bad :-)
I hope I finally found a place were I can change opinions and impressions with people with same interests. :-)
P.S. Sorry for typos. I am not a native english speaker
DM-realxdad wrote: "Wow Sophie what a great opportunity"LOL I've booted her from the group and reported her to GR.

Hi Stefan, welcome to HA! You're in luck if you're going to be reading Dead Silence soon, because we are reading it as a group read during the month of March. Please, feel free to join us!
Stefan: Welcome and that's so awesome, I also love horror and am a huge metalhead. Who are your top three bands? Slayer, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden for me \m/Great book choices and yes, we're all a friendly group that loves engaging discussions for the horror genre. You'll fit right in and no worries, you did a good job writing that in English :-)

Thanks LTJ I Like all the bands you have mentioned, of corse, with additon of some extreme metal, like Arch Enemy, Marduk, Death etc.
It is good to know that there are more metalheads in group :-)
@Melanie Hi, I didn't mentioned it, but cover page of Manhunt is also hilarious along with subtle - The end of the world is nuts. :-D
I am graphic designer so I really appreciate a good cover design. Sometimes i choose to read the book just because of that.
@Stefan: Anytime, my new friend! Ohhhhhhhh, great bands, I love the new Arch Enemy singles and can't wait for their new album! I also love Death (RIP Chuck) and yeah, mostly a thrash metalhead but love death metal, black metal, and power metal :-)
Hii!! My name is Emmy! By day I take care of and sell Bonsai, and by night I read, watch movies, or make art! I've been consuming media in the horror genre for as long as I can remember. I love monsters, vampires, and especially a good haunted house. My favorite author right now is Darcy Coates, but my all time favorite book is Frankenstein. I'm so excited to be in this group, it feels like a low pressure book club!I also love metal, graphic novels, and drawing spooky things.
Hi Emmy!Big graphic novel fan over here. More of a hardcore fan overall, but I do love some black metal
@Emmy: Welcome and very awesome! I don't have a Bonsai but know they're pretty cool as I'm more of a bamboo plant kind of guy. I've always felt nighttime horror reading is an amazing experience and well, you shall fit right in! We have virtual extra cheese pizza today since it's Friday, enjoy from one metalhead to another :-)
Hello, I'm Kalin from the Philippines. I like Thrillers, Sci-Fi, and have a fascination for the occult (Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires, etc). Recently, I just dabbled into writing my own fiction and quite new to the game of publishing. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated :)
