Hi there, The name is Savana -- new to interacting with others on goodreads, but figured engaging with other readers might help me stay active with reading. I've always loved reading as a child and into my early 20s, however life got crazy and reading unfortunately got the chop. But prioritizing the hobby has been at the forefront of my mind this year.
Currently reading Dracula and enjoying it. I've always enjoyed horror movies and shows, but rarely ever ventured into the written genre. Hoping to rectify that by joining this group.
Feel free to send me suggestions of your favorite horror reads or add me as a friend.
Thanks,
s.
Hello everyone! I’m new! My name is Brian! I love to read but am a really slow reader! I’ve been working on Stephen king’s it for 4 months and am only about half way! I love horror books and movies alike!

Ah, I was going to say you write well for a new born!
Enjoy GR, it is a great site with lots of good people happy to involve, chat or help :)

Hello everyone!Had no idea goodreads was this whole platform and am pumped to be here. I absolutely cannot do horror movies but somehow reading a horror story gives me just the right amount of pop in my pop rocks.
I often complete a book wishing it had been scarier so am always on the lookout for more of that good good. Recently, I realized the power of immersion when I did a 3-day hike on the AT with the audiobook version of Stephen King's The Long Walk in my ear, and it was incredible. Highly recommend it ;)
So... I can't say I "love" horror literature, movies, and culture, but I definitely am morbidly fascinated by it (I blame my mother.) I've been looking for a new avenue in my reading journey, and since my YouTube recommendations have led me to numerous MrBallen videos I figured I'd give reading horror a shot. I'm a noob, so bear with me. 😊
hello Becky, I would recommend James Herbert if your looking for some good horror, He's where i started
Your right Rachel, not only was it his first, It was my first as well, I read I was 15, My mum had brought it for me, she had been a herbery fan for years, and knew i was as much a horror fan as she was:)
HiThe truth is I don't even know what to call what I want to read. I am looking for short stories anthologies. I like it light with a little humour, fast paced and not too graphic.
The best example I can give is from movies - something like the Mummy, or 13th warrior, Aliens, Sean of the dead or the last remake of Dawn of the Dead where they are in the mall. I'm not even sure if this is the right place for that.
To be even more specific - is there a sub genre of stories set in the 1940s - 1970s? Like why women kill?
If anyone can direct me to the right place or authors, I would appreciate it.

Not completely hitting target but you might find these of interest..
The short sharp shock series, their is about 60 so far and each is a 40-80 page horrorish tale with a lot of humour usually. Easily read and digested.
I have reviewed three of them so far and most are on kindle unlimited so need to buy them.

Just noticed your reading tastes and thought I would also suggest this given you stray in Noir territory occasionally.

This is the best book of this genre I have ever read. And a lot of other GR readers have rated it so to, hope that helps?
Black Wings has my Angel, it was first published in the fifties.

Hey, all! I'm Joey, I'm 26, and I use they/their pronouns. I've loved anything and everything horror for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in psychological horror & anything to do with serial killers :)
