Welcome Midhu. This is an excellent group to get book suggestions from. My "To Be read" (TBR) list has grown almost out of control with all the great books and reviews you will find on this site.
Hello all. My wife and I enjoy horror movies but as far as books, I haven't touched anything horror in past 15 years--I went through all the early Dean Koontz/Stephen King/Lovecraft/Masterson/Barker books through high school and twenties then my book list when in different directions. However, recently started back into horror.Hopefully someone might be able to help-- book I've been searching for years is from late 80's or early 90's, where plot is a cross between wishmaster movies and a later book called Relic. This was set in a major American city where a detective or journalist is investigating a series of horrors related to the Goddess Kali(spirit or monster) and an artifact imported/stolen from India. I read it as a young teenager, snatched from my dad's pile of assorted novels, and really enjoyed it but my dad returned it to his friend and I totally forgot about it. When Relic movie came out a couple years later, I remembered book had very nearly same plot but couldn't recall name. Now recently saw Relic on streaming service and reminded again.
Can anyone help with a title?
Thank you!
Greetings and salutations friendo Rory.
No idea what book that is, but if no one on here can recall it, you can try this GR group as well: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Hello! I go by Avery most of the time, but I am a HUGE horror nerd.I'm 23, and I live in California, very near LA, I live as a part-time artist, and full-time University student, who is trying for a PhD in Social Work. I absolutely love learning about culture, which translates to my reading as well. I guess somewhere along the line, I got really into horror - probably because of my brother, who got me into Goosebumps and horror movies, all around the horror-aesthetic that he lived for.
Soon I was begging to watch any horror movie we found at Blockbuster, which my mom always said no to - so I had to rent the same Goosebumps (There were only five at our store) over and over again.
Thank you guys! Greetings and salutations, hope we all have a spooky time! Is there anywhere where people suggest other horror books to read?

Hi Rory and Avery, welcome to the group :)

I know that it is about the cult of Kali. I have it on my TBR, so I don't know much more about it.

Welcome Rory. Is the book you’re trying to think of
Song of Kali by Dan Simmons?

Thank you, Hailey, Char,, Alan, Badseedgirl, Katrina, Kenneth, Erin, Latasha, and Michelle. And thank you for Dan Simmons recommendation. I will check that book out as it is on kindle unlimited but it doesn't quite sound like it as summary says book takes place in Calcutta, while book I remembered took place in an American city (LA or San Francisco) and involved the artifact brought back to US from India--very similar to both Relic and Wishmaster. Sorry, wish I had more to go on.
@Rory, you can also try the What's the Name of That Book??? GR group. Granted, we have the most horror fans, but that group's whole purpose is remembering forgotten titles.
Hello I'm Taylor. I write zombie apocalypse fiction with a comedic twist. I enjoy horror movies in general because of the inherent comedy in a lot of them.
Hi! I was around horror (books, films) most of my childhood and teenage years but drifted away a little. Started reading horror again this year, and it is like coming home! Enjoying Stephen King, Guy N. Smith (my late dad, actually), Clive Barker, Lovecraft, John Langan, and a host of others. Want to read more women’s horror - where should I start?
Greetings and salutations friendos Taylor and Tara.
If you're looking for female horror authors, some of my faves are:
Jennifer McMahon, Ania Ahlborn, Daphne du Maurier, Sarah Pinborough, Sarah Langan, Tamara Thorn, C.J. Tudor, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Simone St. James, Amy Cross, Kanae Minato.

Hello everyone! I grew up loving Goosebumps by R.L. Stein and I've been rediscovering the horror genre as an adult. I've read a bunch of King, but have realized that I really like the gory extreme side of horror so I've been slowly exploring that recently.
Nice to meet you all.

Howdy all. My name is James. I love horror books and movies. I am especially a fan of 80’s slashers. Friday the 13th, Halloween(yeah I know technically 70s), The Burning etc. I grew up reading Goosebumps and the moved on to Stephen King, Koontz, John Saul. I can’t say I’ve ever been much of a Koontz fan although, I do remember the first book by him (The Watchers) and King ( Rose Madder ) I ever read.
Anyways I’m an aspiring digital artist and an avid reader and look forward to chatting with you about the macabre.
