This book is about a boy who has a super awesome memory. His mom's ex-boyfriend is a con-man and uses his super memory to cheat a few people. The boy testifies against the boyfriend in court and he and his mom move away for their own protection. He remembers his kindergarten crush who moved when they were smaller and asks his mother to re-locate to the same place so that he can see her again. She does not remember him but he remembers her. The two of them become friends and start a campaign against a local mining company which convenient is owed by the girl's father and also employs half the town.
