Kim Anderson (kimmatski) | 1223 comments OK. I've seriously looked through like 100 books for "best of both worlds." I have come to the conclusion that authors are forbidden to use this phrase in any literary publications and, therefore, is a mythical beast, like a unicorn.

Laura | 9707 comments I put in a request to use a boon for that goal we are having trouble with locating the phrase.

Fixed! What happened was that the formula got deleted from the defense points column on that row. All I did was copy the formula from one of the other rows and paste it in that spot.

Did you just have to manually insert the 1 yourself?

( I put in a book from round 1 by mistake, when I looked at the date again I realized we couldn't use it and by that time the new goal rolled around)

Laura | 9707 comments Google search and Goodreads Listopia have not been helpful with the pet rabbit goal. I went snooping to the other teams. Here is what they read

Anna and the French Kiss & The Coil

Unfortunately neither book is in my library system. Does anyone else have any ideas? Going to check out a few more teams, perhaps I can find more options

Shannon (countessmom) | 4087 comments I'm sorry but I had to DNF my book.

I should have reread book 2 first. Sooooo many characters -- I've spent most of my time trying to remember who everyone is -- and I just can't.

I've put a couple of hours into it, and I've only managed to get to page 76 :(.

I'll see if I can find another one to fit...

I'm going to read either The Bone Road by Mary Holland or Solace of the Road by Siobhan Dowd

message 540: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments A while back I won a giveaway for Uprooted by Naomi Novik but I never received my book. After several months I contacted the publisher but they didn't reply. Finally I asked the GR mods about it.

Well, guess what arrived this morning??

I'm so excited! I can start it soon now that I don't have to push to get Leviathan Wakes done in a hurry.

message 543: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (everlastinggrace) I just got The Five People You Meet in Heaven today and I can read it for the Amazon 2004 or if you want to tackle yours Christine. This one is a shortie, so it will go fast. You never know we might be getting another of the same goal.

message 547: by Kim (new)

Kim Anderson (kimmatski) | 1223 comments Struuuuuggggllllinnng through the book I need to finish before starting Red Queen. Hope it's finished tomorrow and I can get moving on Red Queen. Sorry for the delay. I'm reading Dreams of Gods & Monsters and it's pretty chunky. I don't mind a chunky book, but I feel like this one is just draaaaging. It's the last book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy so I know I need to finish it to find out what happens. I'm over halfway, so I know it's going to get exciting soon. Sigh... Back to it. I guess...

message 548: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (everlastinggrace) I hate it when I get a book that slogs along, happy reading! I am hoping that I'll finish one book and get moving on another one. Both are for our goals. :D

message 549: by Kim (last edited Aug 26, 2015 03:19PM) (new)

Kim Anderson (kimmatski) | 1223 comments I just looked at the master spreadsheet, which I told myself I wasn't going to do when Elle dropped out. I told myself I was just going to have fun and not worry about the standings (not like I really cared before anyways, but....). I broke my own promise and did it anyways because, well, I'm nosy (or maybe curious sounds better??).

Anyways, I just want to say that we are really holding our own. I'm super proud of our team. This is my first group challenge and I thought it would be really stressful and not much fun. That everyone would be a faster reader and give me grief for not reading quickly enough, etc, etc, etc.

I couldn't ask for a better group and I'm super proud of us. Win or lose, I'm glad I'm slogging through this with you lot.

*End mushy post*

Disclaimer: I did not drink too many margaritas, even though Margaret suggested it. This is not a drunk "I love you, man!!!" post. (But love you guys all the same)

message 550: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (everlastinggrace) awww! sometimes you have to be mushy because it is part of being human. :D lol....I have yet to grab and find a Margarita, I am too rural. I hope you will join us more on challenges because they are so fun and I really love this one because I am reading different books. I especially like this one because it isn't just spelling it out which bores me at some point. I know some of the goals are difficult but hey, at least we are trying and use a boon when we need it.

I am not as fast as some and I don't like to push my reading beyond fun. These challenges are meant to be fun and not stressful and standings are just that, standings. In the end we end up learning about my team members and talking life as well as books. There, I got a bit mushy as well. :D
