Is this your way of telling me I should be drunk to listen to this??? Because that just makes me want to die laughing

no i'm not telling you to be drunk while you listen, but i know your thoughts on the series... maybe a drink wouldn't be too bad either.
it cant hurt.

ok so i'm wary of Richard now. i don't like him much after this book...
Edward is still awesome... scary but awesome.

Getting further into the Killing Dance. She knows how to put these characters into sticky situations! (view spoiler)
Going to be on vacation and won't be checking in for a few days, but taking the books with me, so I'll be able to chat when I get back!
I'm a 1/3 through The Killing Dance. Didn't realize that today was the last day on the schedule. I've had it in my head 2 per month as 2 weeks so... well anyway, I should be done in a day or so, so just a little behind.
These books put me on edge and I have to take a break from them. I think two weeks is perfect for me for them. I'm just about ready for the suspense/gore.
I think Richard needs to understand that some people need killing. Is that why this is the Killing Dance or is it the assassins?

LOL! I am getting there. Had to go Audio... Only way I was going to get through it

ooh what are they like on audio? my crappy library doesn't have the best selection of books, or audiobooks... however I did notice one of the anita blake series.
The last Audiobook I listened to was the hunger games and the narrator just sounded so patronizing, I didn't continue the series because of that. which is a shame cause I quite enjoyed the movies and want to do a comparison.
so what is the narrator like? and are the audiobooks worth my time?

Ok so we are finally getting somewhere. Burnt offerings has a twist. New and reoccurring characters. And most importantly we meet Nathaniel.
Ooh and it gets all mystical and erotic and well sometimes a bit cringe worthy.
Have I sparked your interest?
Well lets get reading

I am re-reading and picking up the books I didn't have. Edward is one of my favorite characters for just the same reason. He's un-predictable and deadly.

Hi Adele, as I mentioned before, for me, the books get better and better and the characters sexier and sexier! Oh, and more dangerous and some you just HATE! I love this series because it's always growing and changes make it a great read!
oleander I hope you can join us with this continuation read.
ok you might be a couple of books behind, but you can catch up if you want. we read each book in two week segments but it only takes me a couple of days to get through the book. but thats me...I have no idea about your reading pace. its up to you.
kissie, I hated and refuse to read certain bits of the obdissian butterfly. Whilst its important for the rest of the series...I downright hated bits and in my re reads I know now what to skip.

Audio is fun, I love it. I haven't started it yet, since I have to finish the one I am listening to now, but it is next on the list. I also reserved 5, 6, 7, and 8, so we shall see. I will let you know as soon as I start

Yes, as a re-read for me with some of the books, I skipped some too. I have finally finished purchasing the entire collection so I have the ones I missed. I don't think I ever read Obsidian Butterfly. how bad is it?

kaylah, its all a re read for me but it isn't for others....we aren't up to micah yet, so people wont know who we are talking about.
anyway micah and Nathaniel (when he is not being so submissive) are my faves as well as edward/ted and Jean Claude.oh lets face it I love em all...except richard.

kissie,
obdissian butterfly has very icky bits in it , if you want to know which bit is the worst look at the spoiler, if not just trust me and read it on an empty stomach it is gory. more horror than any other anita book.
(view spoiler) .
the only good thing in the book is (view spoiler)

Aw, why do you not like Richard? I'm only halfway through the book, but in the last book I felt that Anita really did him wrong. (view spoiler) Richard might be having a hissy fit and might become even worse, but right now, I'm on his side. (view spoiler) Do you see yet I'm on Richard's side. Not that I don't like J.C., I always did to some extent, but I think if Anita handled it like a pro, like she does everything else, Richard would've been a lot different. (view spoiler) Did you still like him at this book? I'm halfway through Burnt Offerings.
@Norma - I like Dolph too. He hasn't done anything I dislike yet.

Ha ha ha Amy i agree with your spoiler. its actually from this book i started not liking him. i mean he is acting like a spoiled brat. (view spoiler)

Hey there, I'm back! I read Killing Dance on the trip, and I'm almost done with Burnt Offerings. I've ordered the next four, from Blue Moon through Narcissus in Chains.
Which book are we on? (LOL!) Don't want to discuss ahead of schedule.
the top of the topic has all the dates and I have the book cover at the top to display the current book.
we are currently finishing up Burnt Offerings and tomorrow we will be starting Blue Moon. so it will all be changing over sometime tomorrow. I have to do the BOM poll first and then I'll fix up the topic then compose and send out the mass message. ... so I'll be a bit busy tomorrow myself.
ok well I'd better see if I can get a start on some things and I'll be back to introduce the next book to everyone tomorrow.

I do not know enough about Richard. I still have to read book 3. This audiobook I am reading just won't end.. LOL. As soon as it does I am going for book 3 on audio.

At least I'm on schedule as of today, since I'm just finishing the current book. I've ordered Blue Moon, so I'll start that when I get it.

Got it. Started...Richard's in trouble, and she's started a fight with a neighboring Master of the City...
Loving it on Audiobook! LOL! Easier to read, I can multitask, but the girl who does the voice cannot do male voices and it gets confusing

If they can't do the male voices...wow. There are a LOT of guys! I'm in Blue Moon...and there's...the straight humans, including the sheriff, lawyer and thugs (so far); the werewolves; the wereleopards; the vampires...and of course, Jean Claude and Asher...
Right now I'm at the point where (view spoiler)
I am curious to find out where all these damned Masters came from... Geez. And the one thing that STILL drives me nuts is she over details.. It must have been a 10 minute explaination of the woods and the road when the snake woman was driving her... OMG.. I zoned out while listening, came back, and it was still explainaing the terrain!

There seem to be a ton of Masters, I agree.
And seriously... If someone you KNOW doesn't like you comes to your house and offers to drive you somewhere.. and you know that person has a human slave.. DON'T GO! She does the stupidest crap!!! Stranger Danger anyone?! She is the same age as me when this was written.. So I know she was taught it!

"Somewhere out there, by tomorrow, someone would have my name on a to-do list. Pick up dry cleaning, buy groceries, kill Anita Blake."
The Killing Dance

That was a great line. Keep plugging. At this point, I'm still in Blue Moon, but should be on the next book. I'll keep going.
Oleander, are you on The Killing Game? I am only on the Lunatic Cafe but she is driving me bonkers! Please tell me she either gets smarter... or dies and comes back something else that is smarter? I can't take the stupid crap she gets into!

I found the books got better. As you experience more of her world, some of the humor gets sharper. And at one point, she gets a "trainee" for the necromancing she does, and he gets to do some of the "less bright" things.
The more time she has to introduce and develop her characters, the more engrossing the books get.
At least for me.

In answer to the question about stupid, she's still pretty insane imo. Let's go face a werewolf pack all alone type stuff. Will she ever figure out that she needs to take a zombie army with her everywhere? LOL

We all need minions, whether zombie or otherwise. I could use some just going to the grocery store...and some of the people I meet on the street...I'm not sure a zombie army would help.
And let's not get started on the other people(?) I meet on the Metro Red Line...
