This will eventually be moved into its own folder, but I'm starting it out here to hopefully catch everyone's attention. : )
Anyway, we want to try out something new here. We're going to create a buddy system for the purposes of exchanging feedback on your writing. A lot of other groups already have "read and review" sorts of programs, but this is going to be a little different. If you're intrigued, then please keep reading. : )

This is how it's going to work. First, you sign up, and include some basic information about what you're submitting, like its length and genre and so on. Next, you'll be paired with someone, who's written something of a hopefully similar length. You'll then swap stories (or whatever it is that you've written), and then read each other's work. Then, you send the other person your thoughts. It doesn't need to be a fancy report or a formal review, but please provide honest and thoughtful commentary. Let's keep the criticism constructive, and yes, we are definitely looking for something more detailed than "I loved it!" or "I hated it!"

We're just going to use this thread to start off with, so if you're interested in joining the swap, please post below and we'll be in touch. Also, if you want to volunteer to critique someone's work without swapping your own, feel free to do so - I'm sure the extra feedback will be appreciated.

And as always, everyone is still welcome to post their stories and poems and other writings in the general folders - this isn't changing that part at all. : )

Dionne | 46 comments I'm very much interested. Where do I sign up? The story I'm interested in using is about forty-eight thousand words (250 pages) and is a fantasy. It's pretty much finished but I'm unsatified with it for some reason otherwise I would have started sending in queries and the like.

About this swapping stories, how do you go about doing that?

message 3: by Michael (new)

Michael Benavidez I wouldn't mind joining up for something like this :)

We're starting in a very casual way, by way of a beginning. I'm sure we'll have more formalized rules/procedures eventually, but for now, consider yourself signed up. : ) Once we get some more people interested, we'll pair everyone up for the writing swaps.

Great - roughly how long is the story you want to submit (in word count)? Also, what genre is it in?

so far the story I have is still a work in progress but seems to have slowed to a stop as far as ideas go, so i'm still not decisive and need to go back and rewrite a completely unrelated story haha i'm all over the place far as stories go

H.M | 5 comments I'd be very interested in this. I'm only writing short stories (contemporary fiction) at the minute though of 1500-2500 words. Hope there's someone similar out there!

message 8: by Amélie (new)

Amélie Zhao (ameliezhao) I just joined the group and am still learning the ropes, but this sounds great! Can I sign up?

Dionne and Gareth, your books are roughly the same length, you two could go ahead and swap novels :)

message 11: by Amélie (new)

Amélie Zhao (ameliezhao) Sofia - my novel is 87,000 words.

Carl Sr. | 4 comments I don't have anything to submit as yet but, I am willing to give feedback on other's work. Especially interested in Crime Thrillers.

Tim Stead (timstead) | 32 comments Difficult to find time to read 50 to 90 k words. Happy to swap a couple of thousand at a time, but would prefer something in the fantasy genre, as that's what I know most about. Currently writing a fantasy detective.

Please let me know if interested in swapping reviews!"

I'll swap with you if you want. My titles are Miss Calculation, Miss Taken and Miss Understanding. Let me know if any of them interest you (they're all about the same girl but stand alone). They're older MG; the last one might be considered YA.

Tim Stead (timstead) | 32 comments An easy way of swapping would be to open a discussion with your book title (each) and then post a chapter every few days. That way anyone else who wants to chip in can, but you and your review partner can be more dedicated to it.

What do you all think?

message 16: by Carl (new)

Carl Sr. | 4 comments Hi all, I'm willing to swap reviews with any thriller writers out there. See my crime thriller here:Pole Dancer Thanks

message 17: by Hank (new)

Hank Covey | 1 comments Hi,
Im happy to do exactly that. I've just finished my first thriller / murder mystery, "Dear Boss" and I'm eager to get someone else's opinion and a review in the process. Would you be happy for me to email you the manuscript?

Panic!AtTheWritingDesk (panicatthewritingdesk) | 2 comments Okay. Here goes. I've got a work in progress, like a mix between a fanfiction and an original work (though beware it is more pg14 as there are swear words and drug usage), that I'd like someone's opinion on. I've been updating chapters to the story as I go along, so it's a slowly evolving concept, but I lack a possible title, and I've never had anyone read over it, so whatever advice whoever is willing to read it can give me is very welcome. It is posted in my stories if you view my profile or here is the link:

Also, I'm willing to review others' work as well (any genre for any age group).
