I'm with you, Karen. Purple all the way! It's my favourite colour from handbags, clothes to my fingernails and even my kindle cover. I also love hats, so a fab purple hat would be my idea of heaven!

As long as you don't turn into a purple minion Karen, I think you're safe, lol! Come to think of it, I'm a bit like one first thing in the morning.

My kindle is in a purple case, and your bathroom sounds wonderful to me! If you notice in the photos I linked to in the author sightings thread, I'm wearing one of many purple shirts I own (I brought a stack of them when they were on sale). I also had a purple backpack with me, but it was on the floor by my feet when the photo was taken.

I love school, but I hate getting up early and I also hate all of the stress and pressure. I'm going to miss vacation.
Well, here goes.

Good luck... And try not to stress over it too much; you'll be fine!

This is the Phoenix area today. We had what they're calling the 100 year flood. Many of the schools had a "rain" day today. The governor called a state of emergency. Yikes! I closed the office today so staff didn't have to fight the floods, traffic and traffic accidents.

WOWZERS!! Crazy stuff! We had horrible rain here today, but no flooding as far as I know. We had some of that kind of flooding earlier in the summer.

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
We needed the rain, but not that much at once! Our desert can't handle that much water as there's nowhere for it to go. So many people were flooded out of their homes. I was really lucky and stayed cozy and dry in my home. Whew.

Roger Jackson Oh my, we had one like this in Nashville in 2010. It's tough on people. You are lucky, Karen. Stay safe.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Ugh, this is annoying.
Has anyone ever had periods when you're reading and all of a sudden, you realize that this is all fiction and that these characters don't actually exist?
It's happened to me several times so far while reading City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare , which makes the book hard to enjoy, and it's making me frustrated.
Any tips on how to solve that?

message 516: by Alison (new)

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments I've had that before. it does suck. I think that happened to me while reading partials because in my mind i just couldn't believe the story line. I never got into it really, but I did read the whole series. same thing with cinder but then I got super into it. dunno how to did it though. sorry :( not cool.

I won Fractured (Guards of the Shadowlands, #2) by Sarah Fine a couple of weeks ago through Goodreads. It's so pretty!!

I posted my most recent buys in the "What books have you bought lately" thread :)

Bought some more online, but I will wait and post when they actually arrive. Sometimes when I'm ordering from outlet stores, they run out of stock or something and the order gets cancelled.

Nice Oda!

So far so good...slept in, that felt great! I've gotten a cold that I'm badly trying to fight, so feeling pretty tired and a bit dizzy actually today. Cleaned the bathroom, getting out all our winter stuff (BOO!) and worked a little bit in my art studio today. That's it so far!

message 530: by Marla (new)

Marla | 366 comments Autumn has been so nice, but I think Winter has arrived. Sigh.

I'm a library girl, I rarely buy books. Though I am very glad that I bought Drums of Autumn for my Nook, because that is a hefty book to lug around.

I`m a library girl too.I buy books too, but in the past I have bought books people have praised and they ended up being far from my cup of tea. So now I usually get a book from the library before I buy it,that way I know I wount waste money on it. And that owning it is worth the money.

I just found myself sining down in new orleans(tpatf soundtrack) to myself, and this got me thinking.

First snow of the year! Woke up to white stuff on the ground. EH...I could have gone without it a while longer! We didn't get much, maybe an inch, but its really slick and very cold outside! Minnesota got HAMMERED!

message 540: by Katie.g (new)

Katie.g Yay for snow! I am curious as to how I'll cope in cold weather after spending 2.5 months in the sun though :/ In reply to Oda's comment (my internet is about to run out and I don't want to buy more), I'd love to visit India because of the book Shantaram. Great topic idea :)

Well, that's probably heading my way...Yesterday and the day before it was actually 60-65! Really nice (and unusual)! Today it's supposed to be 44 and it'll just get colder...

That's how it was here too, Lauren. Was in the 60s and pretty nice, and then BAM! Monday evening got colder and colder, then we woke up Tuesday morning to white stuff on the ground and it was 17 degrees!! AHHHH! Still cold here, no more snow yet though!

Do you guys read books as they come our,or marathon them?
I dont think so much if a book is new or not when I pick it up. But still sometimes I read new books because I want to know what all the hype is about and dont want to wait for more books.

message 548: by Jenny, Always smiling! :-D (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 12932 comments Mod
I rarely marathon series...I get tired of it if I do that. I usually break it up with a book or two. Generally, I read them as they're released, but not always. Just depends on my mood!

Marla | 366 comments @Ginny - cyber bullying is horrible, I think people are meaner because they don't have to see your face.

I had a GR friend stop talking to me with no warning and I don't know why. In fact we were in a Buddy Read and she spoiled the ending and then never "spoke" to me again. Sigh...try not to let them bother you, but definitely deny it. I don't think ignoring it works in the virtual world, people assume you are guilty. And unfortunately, confronting usually doesn't work either.
