Lauren Mullins | 3 comments I remember this book sounding a lot like The Same Place But Different, but it had several different aspects. I can't remember the characters names, but there was a teenage boy who liked to hang out at an old, abandoned metal yard/quarry and eventually became sick around the smell of metal, even from being around people because of the iron in their blood. He attends a regular high school and mainly keeps to himself, but a girl who's mother died (or sister was stolen, I can't remember which) thinks that he can help her for some reason. There's also another part in the book where he arrives at school only to pass out shortly after from a blood drive that was going on.

*SPOILERS*
I believe he begins to start growing sharp teeth and becomes really weak, almost anemic. Eventually he gets taken under the scrap yard where a secret society of fairy like characters await him, also have sharp teeth. One of the fairies takes him on a tour of the place and there's one room that has a beautiful girl in a coma like state under a puddle of water. There's also a part where he gets invited to a party at a lake that he attends with a friend, I think I remember that the popular kids invited him to embarrass him in front of everyone some how. There's also rumors in the town that these fairy people steal children to raise on their own, or something like that.

I really appreciate any attempts to help me find out the name of this book.
