Zulfiya (ztrotter) As the results of the poll reveal, The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by H. Murakami won the poll. I will post the reading schedule later this week, and I plan to start the discussion on March, 10.

The blurb of the book promises an intriguing read, so I hope we will all support the team:-) Oops, it is not King's novel, this time. It is magical Japanese realism.

Please sign in if you want to read with the group. There were at least 13 people who voted for the book, so in the ideal world we should have a good discussion, but let's make it even better by getting a bigger reading company because it is THOUGHT-PROVOKING FUN to read a big book with the group!

Sing in and enjoy the long ride!

Well, I did not vote, but shoot, I have this book at home so it will be difficult for me not to join in. So I am tentatively in for this read as well. Currently all my reads are Chunksters! My nightstand is tall at the moment. :)

I am actually 3/4 through this book right now, but it will still be fresh in my mind next month...I am a slow reader so I will probably just finish it by the 10th... :)

message 12: by Zulfiya (new)

Zulfiya (ztrotter) Super, the list is growing.

John, I envy you soooo much. I will start reading as soon as physically possible.

John (johnred) | 364 comments I am a memeber of a Murakami fan club here on Goodreads, would it be OK if I posted a plug for this group in case anyone there wants to join in?

Ooooh! I'm a fan! If you can't post it here, can you send it to me in a message?

John (johnred) | 364 comments Oh, I think I worded that badly :) ...I meant, is it OK if I post a plug for Reading the Chunksters at the Murakami group, in case they want to join in here? I thought it might help lead to a bigger discussion?

message 19: by Zulfiya (new)

Zulfiya (ztrotter) Sure! :-)

Michelle Count me in too.

message 39: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Hi, I have just joined the group and I am contemplating to read this book with you. However, I feel a little out of my comfort zone as this sounds like a strange read outside of my favourite genres. How are you all liking it so far? Worth taking the plunge? Thanks :)

message 40: by Deana (new)

Deana (ablotial) It's a strange book Susanne, and certainly outside of my norm.. But very interesting plotline and I think worth a try at least :) I am enjoying it more than I thought I would based on the only other Murakami book I've read.

message 41: by Zulfiya (new)

Zulfiya (ztrotter) I would definitely say it is worth the plunge. The plot line becomes engaging very quickly, and some passages are truly compelling and 'unputdownable'.
