Jim (rangerider) | 7 comments Okay, would anyone care to guess how much ink has been used to proclaim the virtues of a Route 66 adventure? Does an adventure on the old double six live up to the hype?

Jim (rangerider) | 7 comments It would seem that interest in Route 66 is growing. This past weekend I had an interview with Rudy Maxa about my latest book, a travel guide to the legendary double six.
Here is a link for the podcast. http://rudymaxa.com/2014/03/march-15-...

Tom Coote (tom_coote) | 8 comments I'm currently reading 'Dog Days: Tales from an American Road Trip' by Andrew Thompson - from how he tells it, it certainly doesn't sound like it's all glamour!

This is the only book I've had on the subject. I enjoy seeing "what was and how it is now" pictures.
I meant to read more on the subject, but forgot until this thread came up.

Rick Etchells (etchr) | 2 comments Route 66 definetly lives up to the hype. Just drive it for yourself and see. Among the several resources I would recommend that you check out Jerry McClanahan's "Easy Guide to Route 66"' Route 66 Magazine, and American Road magazine. American Riad covers all of the 2 lane roads in America.

Jim (rangerider) | 7 comments I never leave home on a Route 66 adventure without Jerry's EZ Guide. As to the glamour, I am old enough to say with a degree of authority that traveling the double six in its heyday was an adventure. Today, however you can enjoy the best of both worlds. It has morphed into a living, breathing time capsule with an overlay of Disneyland.
