It doesn't annoy me as much as her other book Frigid!

The scene at the party was so predictable. Drunk guy gets close to Avery and Avery overreacts and rushes home. Of course Cam goes to find her because the sexy red riding hood Steph is not as good as a girl who keeps rejecting him!

This had a more solid plot, with Avery's abusive past, unsupportive parents who were bought off telling the truth with money, Molly who became an abuse victim, and Cam's protectiveness of her sister which resulted in giving up football for his community service hours

Avery's mother STILL did not admit her faults at the end which really pissed me off!! (hide spoiler)]

Sorry guys, I won't be joining you in this buddy read anymore. After reading a lot of depressing books in the last few days I wanted to read a little cute romance so I started this ahead [sorry for that]. What I found melted my brain cells after 2 chapters so I'm writing this with minimum brain capacity right now.
This story is beyond sappy. The best parts are probably the stereotypical characters:
- the pretty friend
- the gay friend
- the drop dead gorgeous love interest that has more than 2 pages dedicated to articulate his great looks and those blue, blue eyes of him;
- the tortured main character [main character has a tragic past, was that not obvious?]
- the cliche setting: she meets him on the first day of school after bumping into him in the hallway.
Is this author even trying to bring us a decent love story?

Dropped book and dropped author [after Lux, donno what was I expecting]

Bye bye guys, hope you'll enjoy it. I'm going to go and bump into some guys now. Donno where my ONE TRUE LOVE might be hiding! He's probably right now just waiting for me to bump into him and fall at his feet. Ah, so romantic!

I can't bring myself to read the rest of the Lux books. Reading Onyx was like someone stuck a spoon into my brain, and swirled it round a few times. Utter torture.

Yeah, after Obsidian left me half horny I was expecting amazing things from Onyx as well, but after reading half and realizing that that's all I'm going to get and that the charters' relationship was again at stage one I decided it's not worth my time.

I am enjoying this read! Then again, I guess that after the last book I read, anything goes.

I'm finding it to be sweet, and it follows the rules of the genre, y'know? Troubled pasts, getting together... I do want to see more of Raphael, the tortoise!

I finished this book. Here are my thoughts:

Chapter 5: (view spoiler)[ I really like Cam. He's easy going and hilarious. Ollie is funny as well. I find Avery to be a bit shy and also she seems to be holding back. I hope she opens up more throughout the book. I think that would give her character more depth. I would also like to learn more about why soccer is such a sore spot for Cam too. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 7: (view spoiler)[ This is a re-read for me as I read this book close to 3 years ago. I am still loving Cam. I really want to know what happened in Avery's past. I think Avery is the only girl to stand up to him, and that is why he is attracted to her. It is the fact that she is different and not trying to get with him or please him, she is being herself. I do hope Avery opens up more as the book progresses. (hide spoiler)]
