I did not think about using this for the vehicle challenge. That would have been a great idea. I am trying to finish up Along for the Ride for my vehicle and lost my buddy for it. Maybe I should put it aside and do this one for the challenge for the extra 10 points. :)

Yeah,it has an airplane on the cover XD. I'm so curious what 'story' I will have for this at the end of the challenge.
If you want I can join your discussion for Along for the ride. I remember it was one of the books from Sarah Dessen I did enjoy. The night view is fascinating since I'm an insomniac as well ^^.

OMG! OMG! I was a little scared at first, because I've read some reviews claiming this book to be boring and uneventful, but it's so not the case. Not for me at least. I love the main character's voice. I love how this horrible, tragic story can sound so optimistic and full of life at times. In the books I read I put a big accent on the romantic interest, but I see we won't have one here, but that does not concern me at all. A romantic interest would be quite uniting for this story actually.

Actually, there is a romance; her love for her country, for her friend and in the end for her own life. I just want to hug Queeny!

So far I got the feeling from V for Vendetta when Evey found Valerie's notes and read about how she was imprisoned. I hope you'll like this book. :)

I have to say it took me some time to really get into. the first couple pages were boring to me but once it picked up I did not want to put it down.

It's really good.

I can see how you have the V for Vendetta feeling.

You are reading so fast! I started way before you. I'm done with this but I still want to discuss it :D .
I loved Rose's voice so much, yes, in the end this is Queeny's real name. Her story was heartbreaking, but true in every way that mater. I'm sure prisoners of war were treated probably even more harshly than this book describes it. But this girl's passion to go on true her story was absolutely fascinating.
(view spoiler)[Maddie's voice came out not as strong as her friend, but I was happy for the shift in perspective. For a moment there I really did oped the 2 of them will fly back into the sunset. I'm sorry there was not much more about her and Jamie, but in the end, this was more Rose's story than Maddie. Maddie was just the sportive character. (hide spoiler)]

I have so many quotes I love from this book, but this one will remain with me for a while.
"I am no longer afraid of getting old. Indeed I can't believe I ever said anything so stupid. So childish. So offensive and arrogant.
But mainly, so very, very stupid. I desperately want to grow old."

*sigh* This book was wonderful. I wish I would find more as good as this one.

So I finished it and it's amazing!

I was bored at first but it picked up pretty quickly.

The writing style was amazing! I just loved every word. It's such an interesting book. From the plot to the characters.

@Lovetoread great :D I just started as well. Not to be pushy or anything, but are you still going to read If I Stay? I have a lot of buddy reads going on right now, so don't feel pressured to read all of them at once ;)

I only read a tiny bit, the first five pages right up to the subheading "Aircraft Types," but I already have a lot of thoughts: (view spoiler)[
a) German and French names are really, really hard to pronounce, even in my head.
b) Omigosh I love the writing style
c) whatever the narrator (Verity, presumably) says about her cowardice, she seems very brave to me
d) World War II has always fascinated me, and I love how facts are interwoven into her tale

Finished the first chapter-ish thing. I'm guessing the date changed? I'm not sure how the headings work, but I read up to page 22 and stopped before "9.X1.43 JB-5"

(view spoiler)[I'm curious as to why Verity seems to be telling Maddie's story. Of course, I imagine it all ties back to her in the end, since the story is how Maddie became a pilot.
Clearly Maddie has some natural talent for flying planes, and a lot of interest. I'm excited to see how her career blossoms. Also, she's a Jew, which I think will be a huge part in their whole capture and all.
Verity's narration is great. She paints a picture without using too many adjectives, and I can definitely see snatches of her personality through the story. Just what she was planning to achieve in Ormaie, I've yet to discern and hope will become clear as I read on. (hide spoiler)]

Most historical fiction I read is kind of slow, and I have to admit I find myself losing focus at times, but overall Wein has found a way of capturing my attention. So glad I decided to pick this up :) (hide spoiler)]
