Trilogies

Do you ever get to the third book and are just like eh, I am not invested any more. I feel that the thrid books are not just necessary sometimes, that the story could be wrapped up in two or less books. Maybe too much time has passed between them and I lose interest. Gabriel's Redemption is just one example. Another is the third Beauty from Pain book.

That's why I try not to start a series unless I know all the books will be out soon. Especially after how long it is taking to get the 4th book to the Crossfire Series.

Since I read the first two books to Gabriel's inferno in the fall I didn't have to wait that long. Have you read this one yet? I am glad I read it and you get a better understanding of Gabriel ♥ but it wasn't as great as the first two but still worth reading.

I read all three books and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the series. One of my favorite. I fell in love with the writing style of the author. Great series.

Do you like the Beauty from Pain series? I started the first book and had to stop reading it because half-way through I became bored because all they seem to do is have sex. Does it get better? Is there more to their story than just getting it on?

Angela, I totally agree with you regarding the 3rd books in the trilogies. They dont seem necessary and they seem to go on and on about nothing. I would have been fine with the ending of Gabriel's story with the 2nd book. I thought that was the perfect ending and did not feel it needed a 3rd book to continue the story. I read it though because I loved this story and Mr. Reynard's writing style.

I loved Gabriel's Inferno that I read it 3x in a row. I thought the 2nd books was good, but this 3rd book was just okay. They really went downhill. It tied up some lose ends which was awesome, but was really choppy and to be honest, some of the subplots were not really that important. I am glad I read it, but was hoping for so much more.

I think the parts about Simon weren't really needed. I was ok with the parts about Paul. I really wanted to know if Rachel and Aaron manage to have a baby.

Paula, I agree the whole series is pretty much just sex. I enjoy a little steaminess but we need plot too. :)

Your thoughts about Beauty from Pain are exactly like mine. I'm not going to read any more books in this series because it just made no sense to me. What's the purpose of the book? What's the story line? uggh!

I enjoyed the series actually. I like Sylvain Reynards writing style (and humor). Maybe it's -more-on-sex but how about the literature reference? The series will make you feel intrigue about The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.

Yes i like the Gabriel series too..very much. My earlier comment was about the Beauty from Pain series…sorry for the confusion. I should have done that somewhere else.

I was really glad that I waited to start this trilogy until all 3 books were out. It then felt as if I was reading one long book. I really liked it but the third book didn't grab me as much as the first two.

i agree with you, i think two is enough, Sylvain Reynards can warp up the story into two, anyway, enjoy the series, and looking forward his coming new book "Raven"

I felt like the story was wrapped up on the second book. I just figured the third was more for fan service, but I still loved Gabriel's Redemption. Hey, at least he's not stretching it to five books like some authors. I'm looking at you Sylvia Day.

Totally agree, Rem. She could have concluded Crossfire in 3 books. Now it's 5...I think I'll wait to buy it until it's all released.

I cannot remember where I read it, but the author stated that she only intended to write 2 books. The fans begged her to make it a trilogy, so she did. I am indifferent about the third book...but I always love reading book series.

Found book 3 of Crossfire too drawn out and was expecting a conclusion, only to be told part 4 was coming. I feel there is no more to be learnt about the characters.Eva is now sounding like a whining teen.
Love downloading a series before going on holiday. Reread FSOG for long haul flight. Have just finished brilliant new Australian trilogy by Anna Buckley.Loved the character development in the first book 'Awakening the lost woman'. Each book explores a different theme in the main characters life.
