I finished Dark Witch by Nora Roberts and I gave it three stars! I enjoyed it but it reminded me so much of another witch trilogy that she wrote about 10 years ago that I couldn't help comparing and contrasting between the two while I was reading it.

Dark Witch (The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy, #1) by Nora Roberts

Runell Hey, Breann! Just finished my first pick, Ball & Chain. Obviously, the gut instinct is to love it because of Ty and Zane, and for that alone I do love it, and then you put Nick and Kelly into it and that gives you all the more reason to love it . . . yet, I'm a mixed bag of emotions with this one. I've settled for 3.5 ★ for now, but it's a rating that I'll be thinking about for a while.

Hi Shelby - I finished up my first pick - A Little Bit Country - I wasn't sure if I read it during LHNB, but after starting it I realized I had - so it was interesting seeing how the author developed the characters more fully from the short story - but I felt like it was a bit too angst/emotional driven in places, rather than a fully developed story (does that make sense?)

I'm listening to Visions in Death right now (ID #19) which is where I am in the series and liking it - Peabody makes me crack up

I'm going to read Dance With Me next.

message 257: by Aarati (new)

Aarati | 148 comments Ezi, I finished Try (Temptation, #1) by Ella Frank and Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs . Loved them both. I don't think I would have read Try had you not pushed me too. I enjoyed it, though I think Logan is very pushy and wants people to always do as he wishes. Even when it comes to Tate. He uses sex for everything he needs. To apologise, or to get out of something. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I just finished my third pick for the month, definitely a five-star read! The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches (Flavia de Luce, #6) by Alan Bradley

Thanks for the great recs! Next I am on to Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men and Firefly Lane. I hope to finish them and maybe even one more.

I hope your reading is going well this month!

Finished Just Desserts (A Savannah Reid Mystery #1) by G.A. McKevett this morning. There were a few times I felt the author maneuvering the story in order to place characters where she wanted them, but overall I liked the book.

I just finished my first PIFM book this month, Amazon Lily Amazon Lily by Theresa Weir and loved it. I read it in a day! Theresa Weir is great at creating depth in her characters and showing the difference between what is said and what is felt. I think that you mentioned that you hadn't read other books of hers--I would highly Weir's memoir The Orchard, in which covers the period of her life before and during the time that she wrote this book, her first. Thanks for the recommendation, I've been meaning to get to this one for awhile.

May I just comment that I have read this whole series, and the books get much better as they go on. In fact, the most recent ones I read in a day because I just wanted to find out what happened. The author fleshes out her characters must more as the books continue, and also includes new ones who add to the fun. Of course, there is always that 'suspension-of-disbelief' that the characters could get themselves in so much trouble, but as in any series like this, if you can put up with that, then the series is a delightful read.

i finished Sacrificial Magic and Faro's Daughter. "faro's daughter" wasn't my favourite heyer, but i still enjoyed it. i really liked "sacrificial magic" and felt that the story was continued well. i'll be reading Nothing Personal, Running the Red Light and Dirty Trick in the next day or so.

Ashley | 449 comments Hello Rachel,
I just finished by second pick The Dark Descendent by Jenna Black and gave it 3 stars. I liked it but wish it had more romance. I couldnt tell who she would end up with. So I had to read the second book right away and was a little disapointed with her choice. I dont think I could ever have a relationship with a guy who beat me up twice.

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Victoria,

I finished Whitney, My Love yesterday and I gave it 3 stars. I really loved the first 600 pages of the book and was prepared to give it 5 stars...but that last misunderstanding and the resulting childish behavior really irritated me! I still enjoyed it and I am glad that I finally read it. I have been meaning to read it for a few years, so thanks for the rec.

I hope to fit in Allegiant this month as well!!!

I hope that you are enjoying your books this month! :)

Hi Carla!. I'm glad you enjoyed Amazon Lily. It was a book club read for me and I was pleasantly surprised. The cover at the time Amazon Lily by Theresa Weir , had me a little nervous, but the story and writing were great. I'll have to read some of her other work as well :-)

Ezi,

I'd rather Mercy stick with Adam only. I don't want any triangles and threesomes in this series with the main couple.

I finished Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks I loved it too. Especially Eveline. She was so feisty, fierce and determined. It was hard not to love and admire her.

I love Evie as well. She wasn't a stranger to hard work or preserverance. I like both of Maya Banks Hrs (this series & the McCabes)

Re Mercy: I truly don't want a triangle either, but somehow I want Mercy to love Stefan back. I guess it's the underdog in me because i know Adam is the One. I know but I want Stefan to have Mercy's love too

I am glad you are enjoying the recs.

If Mercy does reciprocate Stefan's feelings, it'll serve Adam right for the way he did not do anything to side with Mercy when Christy was around.

While reading this book I wasn't feeling so violent, but damn a week after it, I really do want to smack Adam. Guys are just so stupid sometimes.

I wasn't surprised about that. The pack has always treated Mercy like an unwanted guest. No matter how much she does for them. I won't be surprised if they go against her again. But I did wish Adam had stuck up for Mercy at least once.

Thank you!!

UnusualChild{beppy} | 1282 comments hi, dee.

i finished Nothing Personal (The Kincaids, #2) by Rosalind James and i absolutely adored it. if the third one is even better...oh, joy!
also finished Running the Red Light (Texas Nights, #2) by Kelsey Browning and enjoyed that one, too. i liked how the disability was portrayed, and that she didn't let it stop her.
Dirty Trick (Perfectly Matched, #1) by Christine Bell ...i wanted to like it, but both characters just seemed so juvenile to me.
i'm still planning on reading In the Garden of Temptation, Marked, The Art of Fielding and Southern Fried Blues sometime before the end of this month.

Fran - I read Her Mad Hatter (Kingdom, #1) by Marie Hall . I liked it, too! It was refreshingly different. I'm pretty sure I will continue with the series myself.
