30.8 - Delicious Dee's task: Read ‘Em Again

Since that was a short, is this author still eligible for me?
I love this task! I am relieved that I kept my spreadsheet from previous seasons.

Before I figure out which books to add to my reading plan, I want to make sure I understand the task. Winter 2013 was the first time I participated in the SRC. During the challenge, I read four new-to-me authors. So for your Spring task, I just need to pick two of those authors & read another book by them, correct???

Unfortunately since you did read something else, even a shorty, they no longer work - hopefully you can find something else

Yes, I have other things (and even another place to put the bok I had in mind) Thanks!

Hi, Dee. I returned to the SRC group in Winter 2013. Before that I participated in at least a couple of previous seasons - but I took a break for several seasons in between, and I don't think I have my old spreadsheets around anymore. May I spare myself the pain of attempting to reconstruct what on earth I read several years ago by going through the old task threads, and just treat this task as if I started in Winter 2013? Pretty please?

Thanks.

--> Spiralby Koji Suzuki which is the book #2 in the ring series and the second book i've ever read by Koji Suzuki, the first i read was Ring which i read for the winter 2014 challenge
--> In a Glass Darkly by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, the first book i've read by Le Fanu was Carmilla for the Fall 2013 challenge
Hope i did this right!
:)

Or no 2 authors you've read non SRC

Yes, the new authors are all ones that have published only one book, the one that I read for the reading challenge. Maybe that's not quite true. I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure if there are any there will be no choice. i.e. I'll have to pick from a very limited number of authors. I know it was true in the aforementioned situation.

Just to clarify, if I read X Author in the Fall Season and Author Y in the Winter Season. I can read another book by Authors X and Y.
But if I went ahead and read a 2nd book by Author X in the Fall season, then I have to find Author Z I read in the Fall season. Am I correct?

Thanks, Dee - I thought I read it right, but my mind gets befuddled sometimes. =)

One way to find out is to look at your "read" list, sort it by author, and look for any author that's only listed once. Unless you read other books by that author prior to GR, that would give you a list of authors to check and see whether they've written anything else. The task doesn't require that the other book be written since then - it could be an earlier book.

ok I'll try that. I have read a lot of books prior to keeping track on Good Reads, but presumably they would be sufficiently old enough that they might not be classified as a reread. The problem here will be that I won't be able to reference a specific src season for when it was read

and
The Exterminatorsafter having read Pest Control in Jan. 2013. I don't think I've read any others by him, just had a blow by blow description by my husband when he read most of Fitzhugh's booksI hope this is ok.

I read the books mentioned in Message 38 during src so I'm good to go I think.

One of the things I love about participating in the SRC is that each season I normally discover one or two (if not more) authors that I want to try more of their books. But it usually seems that I never go back and read anything more by them, either I get distracted, or I can’t figure out how to fit them into a task. So for this task, you’ll get to try ‘em again.
For this task you will read 2 books by 2 different authors, you can only have read ONE previous book by each author. The previous books you read MUST have been written by a single author (either fiction or non-fiction) - authors that contributed to anthologies, essay collections, or similar do not count).
If you have participated in 2 or more seasons of the SRC, you must pick authors from 2 different previous seasons; if you have only participated in one season then both authors must come from that season; if this is your first season or you have no qualifying books, pick 2 authors that you have previously read only ONE book by each author prior to the start of the Spring Challenge.
If you have participated in the SRC before, you must choose authors of books that you claimed for points in the previous season(s).
Required:Include in your post, the previous book you read by the author and the season that you read it.
