SOLVED. YA Coming of Age series from mid 90's [s]

This has been bothering me for quite some time! This coming of age series (I don't think there were very many - maybe 3-4 books that I knew of) followed a girl who was 12-13 and up while she was at school etc. I read a couple of them (maybe even three) from 95-99.

The only really good specific I can remember was a bit about the boys in her class giving all the girls "state" nicknames based on how busty or flat chested they were. So if a girl was really flat she'd get nicknamed after a really flat state, like Kansas. I can't even remember what the main character ended up with. There was also a bit in the series about when she got her period, but I can't remember the details other than it happened in the night when she wasn't home and was visiting someone else's house (a relative maybe).

The Alice series has the state nickname of the girls by boys in it. The Agony of Alice
I believe Alice in Aprilis the one with state nicknames.

YES by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor! Thank you! I didn't think it would get solved so fast - apparently I read more of them than I realized and there are many more of them than I realized, the author wrote several more after I stopped reading them!
