Mikayla Pavlic (mikaylap) | 2 comments I'm looking for a book about a young girl who wears a scarf on her head due to an illness that makes her hair fall out or causes scabs or something along those lines. I remember that it's set during a time in the mid 1900s where there would be a reason to try and escape Europe. Possibly world war 2 but I'm not 100% sure. The girl had brothers in America and I think her family was trying to get to them, but she was sent somewhere to get better. I think she went to Berlin or Amsterdam to get treated, because I remember part of the book (towards the end) being set in a hospital. The name "Hilda" or something similar springs to mind when I think of this book. I read this book in 2009 when I was in grade 6 but I'm sure that it would have been published a while before that. I also read it for school so maybe it's on some kind of curriculum book list if that helps.

If someone can help me out, it would be very much appreciated, this has been bugging me for ages.
