A Clockwork Orange

I just started reading it and find the constant looking up of nadsat words annoying. What was your experience while reading this book? Did you just go through the book without looking up the words (and somehow figure out the plot), or did you get fully engrossed in the nadsat language?

In hindsight, I have to admit that once you start memorizing some of the words, reading the book becomes a lot more fun.

I had intended to take it from the library a number of times ;but always decided against it reading the blurb :p

May I ask what part of the blurb made you decide not read it?

Don't remember.. I remember thinking I don't need so much violence at the time :p

I too tried reading it, and failed miserably. This was a long time ago (atleast 2-3 years ago). May take it up again.

i read the book after watching the movie(one of my all time favs)...but the book was even more entertaining and had a better ending than the movie....had a bit difficulty understanding nadsat initially...ppl maybe put off by the violence and nadsat could be annoying at times.It could be tht watching the movie first made me enjoy the book even better...:)

This is one of the most difficult books I have ever read, and like you Karanveer I was quite annoyed by it at times. I liked the book- but in one of those rare cases, I think the movie was better.

There isn't a better work on 'The Whys of Juvenile Delinquency ' than this book.
