I read a book about 10 years ago, I remember the cover having a blue lizard in a jungle on the front. Its about a boy who goes for a trek and ends up going through a portal in the desert and ends up in another world. He makes friends with this monkey thing, whilst he is living in the tree tops, and then ends up living with a tribe of people. I think it is aimed at teenagers 14+ maybe. Hopefully you guys help me find it, I've been looking for years now.
