Chapter 5: (view spoiler)[ I like Cole, he knows how to handle himself and others without fuss. Besides his character is at least humorous - I'm not a big fan of the attempts at sarcasm in Ruby's narration. Cole does it right.
I miss Clancy. Yes, I know he's psychotic, but the series is a bit boring without Clancy to spice it up.
Okay I feel like Jude is going to die, soon, and badly. He's too innocent, perfect book victim.

I can't believe Ruby left him like that! OHANA MEANS FAMILY RUBY! No one gets left behind! And then she goes ahead and leaves Jude & Vida to go back for Chubs, SMH. With all this splitting up it's no wonder people got kidnapped. The group needs to stick together.

I'm excited to see what happens when they finally catch up with Liam. There's no way to recover Liam's memories of Ruby, right? So will they just start over or is their relationship done for good? I'll wait and see.

Chapter 24: (view spoiler)[ It makes ZERO sense for Liam to randomly get his memory back when it didn't work with Ruby's parents or her friend at Thurmond. The Darkest Minds series always leaves plotholes like this for the story's sake and it always gets on my nerves.
Besides that, though, I feel bad for Liam. He has every right to be angry with Ruby for messing with his head like that. (hide spoiler)]

1/4: (view spoiler)[This started just as intensely as the first book and the reader is thrown straight into the heart of the action, again. Ruby has been recaptured by The Children's League and the opening segment chronicles her time spent with them. I felt a little lost, in some sections, due to the lack of explanation to my myriad of questions. I soon forgot about them and was drawn into the story, however.

I have my suspicions about Cole...

This second book has a new heartbreaking character, to replace Zu. Jude is an absolute cutie, and his naivety and vulnerability only makes him more adorable. (hide spoiler)]

I feel like Vida, despite angry, grumpy and mean, will turn out to be a good egg! I also feel like something might blossom between her and Chubs...

I feel so sorry for both Chubs and Ruby. They have both made mistakes for what they thought was the greater good.

I know these kids have been beaten and brainwashed, but if they decided to rebel and to fight their numerous captors, then they could easily overthrow them. There is strength on their numbers. (hide spoiler)]

3/4: (view spoiler)[I love how the characters from the first book are slowly making an appearance in this one. I am just waiting on Zu now and the family will be complete. Oh, wait, maybe not, because Ruby ERASED LIAM'S BLOODY MEMORY!

The plot is starting to feel a little repetitive now: Ruby and co. are continually getting captured by a recycled gang of people.

I feel so sad for all of the characters. The first book felt bearable as they had their little family unit, but here they have either been dispersed, forgotten each other or are too busy arguing to try and regroup.

How can Liam still love her if her remembers nothing about her? Surely, then, that is just physical and should be called lust? I don't know how you can be 'in love' but have nothing to link the feeling to. (hide spoiler)]

4/4: (view spoiler)[I don't know what Ruby expected when she took Liam's memories. It seemed like a silly move in the first place and now she is paying for it! I can't help but feel sorry for her, though...

I just knew Clancey was going to make a reappearance! But I did not see him working with Nico!!!

I feel totally lost in this last portion. There are just too many characters to keep a track of. I can't remember who knows who, who likes who and who originated from where.

Cole's "we want you" speech is straight out of the old world war recruitment stratagems. I still don't feel I can trust him...

Oh, Jude! I knew something like this would happen! He is the perfect victim character!
