Chêtto (chtto) | 28 comments So, i've just finished The Republic of Thieves and before that i've read all Terry Pratchett's NIGHT WATCH series.
I read The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt a couple of years ago and Gardens of the Moon last year.
Finaly, my doubt is which i'll read next.
I already own the following, but accept other recommendations:

- All 10 Malazan.
- All 14 Wheel of Time.
- The Way of Kings
- Tigana
- Prince of Thorns (I'm much inclined to start this one because i've heard so much good stuff about it and because it is a finished series, would it be too hardcore for a guy who just read six Terry Pratchetts books?)

Thanx for helping me!

We're reading Gardens of the Moon in one of my groups - and then straight into a buddy read of the remaining 9 books...

Robyn I've read all but one of your owned choices (no The Way of Kings for me yet); I think I'd recommend a Malazan book, then Prince of Thorns, then Tigana. Prince of Thorns is really, really dark (almost too much for me, to be honest, and I like them that way) - reading one of the Malazan books will get you into the mood for it but not completely shock your system after Pratchett. Then, Tigana can restore some faith in humanity (well, fantasy humanity) post-Prince of Thorns!

(Or, you know, just read the one you want to first!)

Chêtto (chtto) | 28 comments Há! Thank you very much Robyn!
Your answer actually is very helpful. I think i'll do as you say and dive into Deadhouse Gates now, although i sincerely dont know what to expect. Not a waste of time I hope.
Are you reading something interesting ?
Do you think i should tackle all "Thorns" between Malazan and Tigana? Are they a fast read?
I apologize for abusing your patience.
And for my poor writing.
X

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 889 comments Deadhouse Gates is brilliant. It's dense, but the payoff is big.

Robyn I apologize for abusing your patience.

You most certainly have not! (I probably should have included a :) after my comment about reading the one you wanted -- I was trying to say, feel free to ignore me!)

I haven't read the rest of the Thorns series yet, as I only have the first one. I do want to read the next one, but I would probably have found it difficult to do so immediately after. But you may really want to tear through to the next one - I get that way sometimes. I found the first a quite quick read.

And I agree with Chris re: Deadhouse Gates -- all of those books are very dense, but the early ones in particular are super rewarding.

Glad to be of help!

Rich (justanothergringo) | 0 comments Grab Tigana, put it in your backpack, get on a bus to Toque Toque and enjoy a nice read at the beach.

Robyn Ooh, I hope you enjoy it! I really love the first 4 Malazan books. I should reread them.

(Also, is there an emoticon for blushing? I believe I am.)

You don't need to. It is the most kind and considerate plan i could ask for. Thanks again.
