Nathalie | 1 comments Saw this post and felt it tug at my heartstrings, thought I should share it with all of you "If you think that I am going to sit and watch a six to seven hour movie just because it's an exact replica of one of my favorite books with every single word and detail included then you are absolutely right, just let me make some popcorn and get some drinks, we're gunna be here awhile."

Lena | 5 comments A book to movie adaptation of The Land of Stories would be so cool. If you haven´t read it yet (first off: you should, it´s great) it is about these twins who fall into their grandmothers storybook and I imagine it would be this cool mashup of Once Upon A Time and the Wizard Of Oz and gosh it would be great

"Ghost Girl" I really enjoyed that saga. I think an animation movie would be best. If it's kind of like "Coraline" even better.

message 333: by Barbara (new)

Barbara I know "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was made into a movie several times but I don't think any of the versions - I saw 5 of them - ever did a good job of putting the book on the screen.

message 334: by Barbara (new)

Barbara On another subject, I posted some of my favorite mystery authors. I like good mysteries, interesting characters and not too much explicit violence - anyway, the series by any of these authors I think would make for watchable movies, TV movies or TV series.
Nora DeLoach
Sparkle Hayter
Joan Hess
Liz Lipperman
Tamar Myers
Katy Munger
Jane Rubino
Elizabeth Daniels Squire
Sarah Strohmeyer

It does sound cinematic. I posted a list of authors whose books I thought were good for Netflix, etc, more in the mystery and suspense vein. But your post made me think there should be a GR group moderated by people who acquired material for movies - a group called something like "Elevator Pitch" where you could pitch your work to them in under 100 words.
Amazon Studios used to have a site they shut down, the idea was they would take a pitch from anyone and I think picked up one or two screenplays from people on the group.

I just saw that Artimis from Andy Weir had been bought for movie purposes and that makes me SOOO HAPPY!!!!! I've read it twice and might do it again just cuz I love it so much!

message 338: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Another one - several years ago, there was a book, sort of between middle grade and YA called "Ordinary Magic" that a lot of readers were calling "Harry Potter in reverse." The main character is an "Ord" who lives in a world where magical powers are the norm. and the "Ords" (ordinaries who have no magical powers) have to go to a special school to learn how to cope. At the time, I thought this would be a natural for Disney or Netflix.

That sounds like a really fun way to combine the idea of magical and non-magical people. Might need to look that one up!

message 340: by Talia (new)

Talia | 10 comments Dragon Keeper, Carole Wilkinson. This book is like Eragon only ten times better. A young Chinese girl slave finds a dragon and they build a strong connection. They travel throughout china and the girl develops certain powers. I forgot a lot of details but I remember enjoying it a lot when I was a kid.

Tanya | 26 comments Whenever I read a good book, like a really really good book, I always wonder how cool it would be if it were to be made into a movie but at the same time I'm overly conscious and concerned about whether they'll ruin it and completely mess it up you know, and then whenever I think of the book I'll think of the movie and then I'll think it's bad but the book wasn't bad, the movie was by I can't stop thinking of the movie and then my mind would go in circles and then I'll think that I should've never wished for it to be turned into a movie
yeah I feel like I'm talking nonsense now

Madeline | 2 comments Keeper of the Lost Cities. I’ve heard that they’re making a movie, but I don’t know if it’s true. Also, if Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been made into a million movies already, why can’t they do that with Dork Diaries! I want to relive my childhood!

message 345: by Jessi (new)

Jessi Saunders (jessisaunders) | 1 comments The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer

Holly Jackson books (like the reappearance of Rachel Prince, or the Good Girls Guide to Murder)

Across the Universe Trilogy by Beth Revis

these have been some of my favorite reads the last couple years that are not movies, yet! (I honestly listen to a lot of audio books that are books that have been made into movies because its easier for me to follow)

message 346: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi martin | 6 comments I would have to say Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix and Plain Bad Heroines by Emily m. Danforth. The first book would be a movie while the second one I would say could definitely be a tv series, it seems like their is so much going on it would be hard to compress it into a movie and a disservice as well to cut so much to make it fit as well.
