Bought Silence of the Grave by Arnaldur Indriðason and One Day by David Nicholls.Just a few days ago, bought Unseen by Mari Jungstedt.
Am still waiting for my copy of Twinkle Twinkle by Kaori Ekuni.
Im currently reading The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly, im back to my old favorite genre, legal thriller (fiction). This is my first time reading Connelly's book. Im almost done with the book, i flew through the pages, it is very fast paced!

Silence of the Grave is in my TBR list for this year. Im still keeping an eye on his book 1 Jar City. That copy is elusive.

Even that Mari Jungstedt novel I bought was snagged for 40 pesos in Booksale, opposed to when I could've snagged it from fully booked for 450 and weep after seeing that copy.
Jar city is good daw. Haven't tried his sampling yet. I'm looking at Jo Nesbo and Akira Arai this year.

The Scandinavian authors are raking it at the bestsellers lately, Henning Mankel is one acclaimed scandinavian author, have you read Camilla Lackberg's Ice Princess? she is a Swedish author also.
I go to Booksales also, it is fun finding our wishlisted books at a cheap price. But im slowing down on book purchases this year, for lack of space at home and a mounting TBR that's eating up my guilty conscience :-)

Hm, I don't think it's really necessary to read American Gods first to understand the other book but you might enjoy Anansi Boys better if you get a feel for Mr. Nancy in American Gods. They're complimentary books, so if ever you decide to read both, the order doesn't matter. If you decide to read just one out of those two, then it doesn't matter either. Either way, both of them are great as standalone and/or series books. :)
I'm currently re-reading
Kafka on the Shore
for my Advanced Placement English class next school year. I'm at Chapter 11 now and I'm beginning to notice things that I overlooked when I was a mere 13-year-old three years ago. :)

I have to yet see a sampling of Camila Lackberg's writing though some reviews deemed Ice Princess to be lackluster compared to her other releases. I might look at Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo later when my reading stack is a stack no more.
Swedes have this robust literary culture that stems from its strong reading culture, and look what they have produced. The US isn't far behind with its staple of Young Adult novels.
@Beatrice, read Kafka on the shore and I find it a bit of a lighter read compared to Murakami's old books. Will be prolly investing in 一Q八四 when it comes out.
While it's not a viable solution, sometimes buying the books at their premium price (Fully Booked/Powerbooks prices) can force one to really finish the tome. I was forced to read Winter Sleep despite the unpalatable premise and found it an enjoyable symbolic joyride all along.
@Alibiserver: I've only read two other books by him aside from Kafka on the Shore and both of them are relatively short (After Dark and Sputnik Sweetheart) so I can't really compare it to anything else. I'm also definitely going to grab 1Q84 as soon as the English translations are out. :)
Speaking of Swedish authors/novels, Hypnotisören by Lars Kepler as translated by Ann Long will be released on Tuesday. But for some reason, I already have a copy of it and I can't remember where I got it haha.
Swedish:)
Let the Right One In (original title: Låt den rätte komma in), also known as Let Me In, is a 2004 vampire fiction novel by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist. The story centers on the relationship between a 12-year-old boy, Oskar, and a centuries-old vampire child, Eli. It takes place in Blackeberg, a working class suburb of Stockholm, in the early 1980s. The book focuses on the darker side of humanity, dealing with issues such as existential anxiety, bullying, pedophilia and murder.
The book was a bestseller in the author's home country of Sweden and was translated into several languages, including English. A Swedish-language film by the same name, directed by Tomas Alfredson, was released in 2008 to widespread critical acclaim.[2] An English-language film adaptation, directed by Matt Reeves, was released on October 1, 2010, titled Let Me In.

Despite the tiny text and the 8 hours of sleep, I'm already halfway in One Day by David Nicholls. will finish it tomorrow. thank god for paperbacks!
@William, I've read the book about 2 years ago. Shipped it back. Now I'm wondering if I'll get all Kurt Wallander mysteries. I'm waiting for Ajvide's latest foray into Zombie lore.@Cate I'll be watching for Hypnotisoren. Asa Larsson is reckoning as well.
Skip the Hollywood version of "Låt den rätte komma in" known as "Let Me In". It's not as good as the original. Not even close.
After 2 friggin' days, I finished One Day by David Nicholls. Mind-blowing book, the ending is a mixed bit though. British wit at its finest.
Just bought Twinkle Twinkle by Kaori Ekuni. It's really fudge for a book of 172 pages to cost 838 pesos but I guess the joy in itself is the reading.
I just finished Nowhere To Go by Iain Rowan on my nook and reviewed it here: http://wp.me/p1CKWU-3D.I'm finishing up "The Devil Colony" by James Rollins. Up next on the nook is
.
^^ It's a bit hard to find. But I'll be conscious about my buys later on... They're getting impractical.Napaisip nga ako kung bibilhin ko siya or yung Incarceron because of the unique plot, pero dumating na eh. OK na din siya.

Jerald: I want to read that small book! I've heard so many things about it and yet I have not read the whole thing.
I am already done with it. It's nice. I enjoy it a lot...It made me realize how we overtook very little things that should be done. I will follow the book, set it as a norms. Although hindi ko pa mgagawa lahat like paying taxes...
