After reading Rush Me, I thought I knew what to expect from Running Back. I was only sort of right. I knew that both Natalie and Mike would be interesting characters with deep personal stories and I was right about that. And I knew that there would be laugh out loud snarky moments between characters and I was right about that. What I wasn’t expecting was to be drawn so far into the side story about Natalie and her search for Ivernis. In Rush Me, it was really about Ryan and Rachael and their search for love and really who they were. In Running Back, it was about Natalie and Mike and their search for love, the truth about their families and Natalie’s Irish dream.
The depth of this story was incredible, yet the book was still a fun and quick read. I couldn’t put it down. I really loved the interactions between Natalie and Mike. They were very similar to Rachael and Ryan, with the snarky back and forth, but it was so amazing when they started to really talk to each other about life and their dreams. It was such a great journey watching them open up to each other.
And on top of their amazing relationship was the thing that brought them together in the first place, the search for Invernis. All of the history that Allison Parr infused into the story was so awesome. I’m a big fan of history, especially ancient European history. Some people might have found the information boring, but I ate it up. I couldn’t get enough of it and now I am even more excited about going to Ireland someday, than I was before. I especially loved the epilogue that we got that wrapped it all up for us. It was a perfect way to end this book.
Of course, we got to see some of our favorite New York Leopards, but not as often as we did in Rush Me since Running Back mostly took place in Ireland. I have a feeling we’ll see them a lot more often in Imaginary Lines (which I can’t wait to get my hands on). This is a great series and I am definitely a fan of Allison Parr and her amazing writing style.

Review:
Kate McNeil moved her pediatrics practice to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to find out what happened to her daughter that she gave up for adoption. She thought she would be able to watch her from afar, but she didn't expect the small town which has her daughter as a patient and even smaller group of friends who are trying to match her up with her daughter's adopted father, Joel.
Joel is a grieving widow who is trying to raise his daughter and has an unwanted attraction to Kate. Kate knows that with the secret of his daughter between them, they can't have a relationship, also because Joel is not over his wife and she won't be second place. The book is well paced and pretty good plot. But it is a pretty typical story and pretty similar to previous book in the series, the whole have an no string attached affair, fall in love, plot twist and then HEA. While its all good, it is getting a little predictable in the series. Hopefully, the rest of the series is not going to continue like that.

Review:
This is the 6th book in the series, and I was a little bit disappointed by it. This story was about Elisa and Merrick and I was looking forward to reading it, from the last book, I thought Elisa (abused heroine) and Merrick (hybrid hero) was going to make a great story, but it fell pretty flat pretty quickly for both of them. Most of my problem was with Elisa, which is not surprising since the author has a tendency of making her heroine a bit annoying to deal with, but her heroes are always great. I felt Merrick and Elisa didn't get much time to work on the issue as they should and it was just solved by the end but then again they didn't have much space in this book. There is usually multiple stories that keeps the book going very well, and it gives a preview to the next series and Lissa and Saber does not sound really interesting to me, that could have been better used on Elisa and Merrick.

I'll be posting my review here shortly and then I'll roll tonight in a little over an hour.

I forgot how much I enjoyed the first book in this series until I jumped into this one. It had been awhile since I had read Firelight, but it was so easy to get back into the world. There was enough backstory in Moonglow to remind me about what I had read before, but not too much so that I felt like I was really bogged down with information. I remembered immediately that I really liked Daisy in the first book and it was great to see her out on her own and no longer under the thumb of her husband. I also remembered immediately that I liked Ian, even if he was at odds with Miranda and Archer most of the book.
Together, Ian and Daisy were extremely entertaining. I enjoyed their banter as well as the sexual tension that built between them throughout the book. They both had their own issues and struggles to get through and it was great to see them both work through those. I did not see the ending coming and I am very curious to see how the situation plays out throughout the other books.
Aside from Ian and Daisy’s relationship, I really liked the introduction of the new characters and getting to see Miranda and Archer. I feel like we delved a lot more into the mythology of this world in this book, which was great. I have a feeling that we will go deeper into the history and mythology of the world in Poppy’s book, which I’m really excited to read. I definitely don’t plan on letting as much time lapse between books as I did last time.

I will be reading The Confessor by Daniel Silva. It is #3 in the Gabriel Allon series.

Review:
I started out this book with a little prejudiced going by GR friends reviews regarding the heroine and what the precis said. The fact that Jane Darlington for all her smarts had to pull such a low trick to get pregnant was really off putting. And the reason she chose Cal Bonner was because she thought he was a dumb jock, and I was totally put off by her and her perceptions and I thought the story was going to be pretty much downhill from there just because I could not make myself like her. But then Cal Bonner also turned into this immature hero that even had me sympathetic to Jane. The reason I really ended up loving story was the dialogue between Cal and Jane was at time hilarious and so funny, I kept forgetting about how much I didn't like them. I loved the secondary story about Cal's parents and I loved Cal's grandmother. After reading this book, I guess it is still possible to dislike the MCs and still find the book that good, I am just glad it is a good book and worth the time to read it.
One of my favorite quote from the book: “I married a damned cereal killer”

Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
Alternate: Author name "A"

Review:
I really enjoyed this look into Andrea's head. As a long time Ilona Andrews fan, I loved the chance to see the world from another character's perspective. The writing and pacing is smart and witty, just like all the Kate Daniels novels. It's a nice change of pace for an author to keep up their standards and not let quality slip, like so many have in the past few years. I know I can count on great plotting, dialogue and action whenever I pick up a Ilona Andrews novel. Way to go!!

I finished my book yesterday. Just got home from a very wet soccer match and am trying to warm up, then I'll post my review.

I kept going back and forth on whether or not I wanted to read this book. The first two in the series were passable, but not that great for me. Thankfully, I needed to read a bunch of green covered books this month, so I forced myself to read this. I really enjoyed this third stop in the series.
Sabina seemed to have matured a bunch in this book. She was still the same feisty Sabina that we got to know in the first two books, but she also seemed to figure out when to keep her mouth shut and when to let others lead. She also learned a lot about herself in this book, which was great to see.
I absolutely love Adam and Giguhl, so it was great to have them back in this book and more prominent than ever. Team Awesome for the win! This book was filled with almost non-stop action and the down times were pretty great too. I love the new character Brooks/Pussy Willow and I hope we see more of her in the next book.
I enjoyed this book so much I actually can't wait to finish the series. I really want to see where things go from here for Sabina, which I never thought I'd say. Thank goodness for challenges and green covers.

I am reading

The Duke is Mine by Eloisa James
Spot #: 36
Series #: 3
Finished: 3/11/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
Olivia is probably my favorite Eloisa heroine so far! Loved her audaciousness and the fact that although she was bold in character, she still had insecurities about her body. The book was everything you expect from an Eloisa story: funny, fast-paced, very witty, emotional, and with a happy ending :) Totally recommend!

This is the sixth book in the series. Jonas Callahan is the last of the Callahan brothers left single. Except that he loves Sabrina and she is pregnant and he thinks its someone else's child. Sabrina doesn't inform him and he does not ask, although everyone else has figured this out. It's funny how he courts Sabrina after figuring out that the baby is his and all his family's advice in winning her over. The ongoing mystery that has been going on since the beginning of the series has finally come to an end or at least the readers are in on it now which was interesting. Even if the books were not good, I would have read them just for the book covers, the babies are so cute in all of the books.

Part of me is so sad to see this series end, but the other part of me is happy that we got such a great ending to one of my favorite series. I’ve been a fan of Jennifer Estep since I read the first book by her that I could get my hands on, so I was already established as a fan by the time the Mythos Academy series started. It was a no brainer to start this series and I’m so glad that I did.
I have loved every minute of this series from the full length novels to the in between book novellas. It has been great watching Gwen grow and to learn about what she is capable of both magically and emotionally. Her friends are fantastic and I wish I had friends like Daphne, Carson and Oliver. And of course a hot boyfriend like Logan. I also loved the adults in Gwen’s life and her sword Vic and puppy Nyx.
I am going to miss all of these characters and this fascinating world that Estep created. Even though I loved the way this ended, I hope that we will get to see them all again someday. Perhaps we can jump ahead and meet the children of Gwen and Logan and Carson and Daphne. Maybe they’ll be led by the child of Metis and Nikademes…I have all sorts of ideas and I hope that Estep does too.
