Twin classmates have been kidnapped, and the police seem to be bungling the investigation. Unfortunately, during the investigation, the canine powers of the group seem to be acting up. The kidnapper leaves behind an Astrology card at each of the kidnappings. So this book ends on a cliffhanger so we will have to get the next book to find out.

Review: I love these books. There is a basic formula for them all: orphans are sent to a new place to live, Count Olaf appears in disguise, orphans try to convince grown-ups he is Count Olaf, but they don't believe them, before Count Olaf can escape with the orphans, he is discovered, but he manages to slip past the authorities before he is apprehended. And while I know what is going to happen, reading how the author puts it all together each time is a lot of fun. This time the orphans are placed with Jerome and Esme Squalor, who happen to live just a few blocks from the burned-down Baudelaire mansion. Of course, Count Olaf shows up, this time as Gunther the foreign auctioneer, and the two Quagmire triplets make a brief appearance as well.

This is the 4th in the Hayley snow, food critic, now planning a wedding for her best friend, didn't like it as much as the first 3. For Connie's wedding she is making 200 cupcakes while still trying to meet her deadline for Key Zest Magazine. It is spring break in Key West and her parents and step-brother have arrived for the wedding. Rory of course disappears into the party scene of spring break. Hayley is notified that a couple of kids stool a jet ski and she knows her brother watned to try one. The girl turns up dead, her brother still alive. Did Rory do it or are they both victims?

This book had more romance than action compared to the last 3 books of the series, but I still loved it. I started the series over the weekend and couldn't put it down and finished 1 book/day. This book starts out sad with a death in the family and fights about what to be done among the family. One sister does everything to help support the kids left without a father and one sister is trying to break everything up just because her high school ex-boyfriend starts to date her younger sister while the mother can't seem to break out of her grief. Very interesting family dynamics in this book.

I rolled a 1 (sorry!), putting us on space 47.
You can read a book that is the 4th, 7th, or 47th in a series. Or you can read the alternate, a book from the purchased shelf.

Review: In this episode, the Baudelaire orphans find themselves adopted by an entire town filled with too many crows and too many rules. Drawn to this vile village by its name, V.F.D., are the orphans any closer to finding the two Quagmire triplets, or unraveling the mysteries around their own family's demise?

If you click on the link in my post about today's roll, it will take you to a list of books. You can read any book on that list as an alternate.

Once again, Harry finds himself knee-deep in trouble. This time from several different groups of people. He is depressed, missing work, trying to save his girlfriend, mentor to a group of new werewolves, in debt to the Winter Queen, in trouble with his own White Council, his old girlfriend thought to be dead is still alive, trying to solve the murder of the Summer Knight, and trying to stop a war between the Winter/Summer Courts. How much can he deal with all at once? This has been my favorite book of the series so far.

One of Attorrney Coyne's clients is found dead on the streets of Boston just one of dozen of derelicts found each winter on ;the streets. Coyne knows better, this is homicide. Stuart Carver was no bum: he was a senator’s nephew. His first book was trash, but it became a best seller. He homelessness in the metropolis when he was killed whiile workign on a more serious novel, which had something in it better kept unsaid, so he was killed. As details of his live emerge, more are found dead.

Review: As Jane Rizzoli gets ready to be a mother, and Maura Isles discovers a body in the morgue that is still alive, both women find themselves drawn into a world of conspiracy theorists and government cover-ups. Converging with our two series protagonists is a young woman named Mila, whose harrowing story of human trafficking is brutally real. Another great addition to this series.

This was a different book. The main character is waiting for her execution date and tells her life story to the priest assigned to get her to repent of her crime. At times it is hard to realize when the book switches from past to present. I liked the idea of the story, but the writing style could be better.

I loved that book as well and I have recommended it to many people.

7 year old Roanna is left orphaned when her parents die in a car accident. She comes to live with her grandmother at Davencourt, her families rich estate. She does not feel welcome by her family, they treat her as if she is not wanted, but only Webb is there to protect her and make her feel safe. Roanna's second cousin Webb is her hero, she litterally worrships him. Webb and his wife Jessie,Roanna's other cousin, have a fight and threaten each other with divorce. That very night,Jessie ends up dead.Webb is found innocent. So Webb leaves to start a new life. 10 years later Roanna goes off to find Webb before her grandmother dies. Soimeone is out to kill them both.

I rolled a 1 (again!), which puts us on Space 51.
You can read a standalone, the 1st in a series, or the 5th in a series. Or you can read the alternate of a book with a gray or silver cover.

This was a fun romance between a stubborn barmaid/vet tech/bar owner who had sworn off romance and a rancher who had vowed never to get involved with a barmaid. They come from very different social and economic backgrounds and are brought together by a chance encounter in the bar and wily machinations of a dying uncle. I thought the book also did well with setting up other characters to have future books in the series.

Review: Nick's fairly certain that when it comes to him, if it can go wrong, it will. And when one of his classmates tries to eat another one, he realizes that his problems with his principal or his second-hand clothes are not important at all. As zombies run rampant in New Orleans, Nick discovers a whole world of supernatural characters, most of which he knew as regular humans before. The story has a wide cast of characters and it's an interesting take on urban fantasy, but the writing is clumsy and characters are sometimes uneven.

review: this was such a sad book.. I am a big fan of Patrick Swayze, and it was nice to read about what he did with his life before acting. I loved getting to know his wife, and also how she dealt with him having cancer. i loved looking at all the pictures that he put in his book.
the best part of the book for me was knowing that he wrote this book months before he died. so it was all the emotions put into one.

In the 5th installment, Jason gets to handle a delicate matter in another archangel's territory. Angels are showing up dead and he is tasked with figuring out who has done it before the archangel goes insane. I liked learning more about this very solitary angel and the twist in who the killer was is going to make future books interesting, I think.

Review: A very important book in the canon of American literature, first published in 1937. I read this one back in college, but I don't think I fully appreciated it, as I was reading for writing a paper, not for experiencing the text. Hurston was a cultural anthropologist who took the rhythms and cadence of the place she was raised (Eatonville, Florida) and created a masterpiece, drawing on the imagery of folklore and jazz. Janie's story has become well-known and a symbol of a woman's journey from adolescence into womanhood. It's incredibly powerful. I'm really glad I re-read it.

review:
In the beginning of the book, Calvin Norris and Sam Merlotte were non-fatally shot and another female shifter, whose name I’ve already forgotten, was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Sonic. And a news report indicates that many other people in nearby areas have also been shot by a sniper in mysterious circumstances. Although the world at large may not realize the significance of the snipers victims, Sookie and several others in the community realize that all the targets have been shifters. Sookie also learns quite a bit more about werewolf politics, learns how to file an insurance claim and what a gunshot wound feels like.

Three women into motherhood or not. Julia has been trying to have a baby for a long time. She tells her hub Mark it is his fault. Her best frined Sam tried once and was pregnant. Maeve says she doens't want one. But she gets pregnant by Julia's ex Mark and is now happy. They had no idea what life as a stay-at-home mom meant.

However, it looks like there's a group set to win with today's roll, and since we are pretty far away from the end (sorry for all my 1s!), I don't think it really matters.
It was great playing with you all!
