Yes! I didn't picture Claire quite like the actress that they chose, but I think Jaime looks perfect! I'm super excited for it. Here's a link to the teaser. It's really short though.

D.G. | 1 comments They couldn't have casted a better Jamie looks wise. And according to Herself, he kicked butt in the audition!

I've never pictured Claire very well...all I see is her mass of curly hair!

Jennifer H I actually like both choices. Thanks Jennifer!

Your right about the curly hair. The actress should definitely curl her hair.

D.G. | 1 comments My book is just going OK. I like the hero but the heroine - who's supposed to be a businesswoman - doesn't seem one AT ALL. What kind of person goes to propose somebody else a business without doing any research into what kind of person they are, how they're doing financially, etc.?

message 106: by Jennifer C. (new)

Jennifer C. | 1722 comments @ DG ~ Is it kind of a light fluff romance? A lot of times I feel like those books gloss over pretty important details. They don't want to make the story too heavy, I guess. You have to sort of suspend all reality and just enjoy the fluff. :)

message 107: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1 comments I think it's supposed to be funny but when the book is so far from reality, I can't enjoy it. If I want to read fantasy, I read fantasy. :)

She's supposed to be a chocolate heiress - from a company patterned after Hershey's - where they are one of the famous chocolate products in the world, her town is named after her family, etc. However, she shows up wanting to propose this guy some business and doesn't know squat about him. She keeps wanting to buy EVERYTHING and there's this undertone that Americans trample over people with cash. I find this very insulting and not funny at all.

I work for a global brand and cultural awareness is extremely important for business. Where I work, nobody would try to do business in another country and not try to find out how they do business in the country, what's important to them, etc.

Team Vicious & Delicious: Roll #2

Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Spot: #13
Series: #1
Finished: 2/18/2014
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ (wish I could give it more)

Review:
Diana Gabaldon is an outstanding story teller. Outlander is a big read - it is full of romance, adventure, magic and history. When Claire is transported from mid 20th century Scotland back to the 1740's she is surrounded by a wild country, warring clansmen, heroes, villains and much more. This book never slows down despite its length. The author manages effortlessly to also transport the reader back to this adventurous and romantic time. I think it would be hard for any reader not to be engulfed by the romance between Claire and the headstrong young Jamie Fraser. However, be warned, it is not a gentle romantic read full of swelling bosoms and hinted-at lovemaking. This book is full of raw, untamed sex and somewhat graphic violence. It's a great read and I can't wait to get onto the next installment!

Well, that's a really good book! Mine is just meh so I've sort of been avoiding it. Instead of reading during my lunch hour - which I always do - I just walked around my building!

Tineke (dutch-book) I think I like mine too. Just have to get over the fact that I tried the book a couple of times before and couldn't get through. I'm only halfway, have about 190 pages to go, but will make time for that today.

Book: Beautiful Darkness
Series # or Alternate: #2
Spot: #23
Rating: 4 Stars
Finished: 2/27/14
Review: I didn’t expect all of the turns that this book took. I definitely didn’t expect (view spoiler) I really liked Link in this book. Much more than the last book. I even liked that the situation between him and Ridley is still the same but the exact opposite of what it was in the last book. I loved the sisters and Lucille too. I really felt bad for Liv though. She sacrificed so much. I wasn’t really satisfied with the end of her story and I wonder if she’ll be in the next book. This book had a lot more happening than the first book. I think I may have liked it more than the first and that doesn’t happen very often in a series.

D.G. | 1 comments SS Vicious & Delicious - Week 3

Carnal Secrets (The Phoenix Pack, #3) by Suzanne Wright
Title/Author: Carnal Secrets by Suzanne Wright
Spot #: 23
Series #: 3
Date finished: 2/23/14
Rating: ★★½
Review: I first started reading this series because the sex was hot. So imagine my dissapointment when it took half the book to get some action! If it would have been because the author had some plot in mind, I wouldn't have minded but half the book was spent on them waiting for something to happen. It was just slow and boring.

I was excited about this book - for a change, the conflict was something I've never seen before and I was wondering how the author was going to bridge this issue. However the great complication in their relationship went by the wayside in the prologue. All of a sudden, he didn't want to be alpha! What followed was a very boring wooing with the hero trying to convince the heroine to trust him. They had no chemistry whatsoever and the sex was just a pale imitation of previous books. I really don't know what the author was trying to accomplish with this.

The addition of the Phoenix Pack adding nothing whatsoever to the story, in fact, it made it worst because it took attention from the couple. AGAIN, we had to hear the interminable insults that Taryn throws at her grandmother in law (I mean, really, that's getting really old) and pages and pages of people walking about and butting in.

If it gets really good reviews, I may read the next book in the series but I'm not pre-order them anymore.

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry
Title & Author: Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Alternate: Lendable (page 3 of book's shelves)
Spot #: 23
Rating: 4 stars
Finished: February 25
Review:
I don't usually like contemporary novels, however this book kept me riveted and I hated it when I had to put it down. At the same time several things were unbelievable and the ending was just okay - would have liked a little more, but maybe the future books will have more about these characters.

I'm not an emotional reader, rarely do I cry or tear up, but there were a couple scenes towards the end that had me getting misty-eyed - which surprised me! I wasn't expecting that to happen, at all!

There is a lot of strong language in this book (view spoiler), as well as several steamy scenes. So while this is a young adult book I would only recommend it to the older range of that group.

Hexed (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne
Hexed by Kevin Hearne
Spot: #23
Series: #2
Finished: 2/22/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Review:
Kevin Hearne is one of the best authors I have come across in a long time. His series about a 21 century old Druid (the last of them) and his Irish Wolfhound in current-day Arizona is priceless. The droll timing of his humor vs. danger vs. politics is perfect. This is one of the best developed worlds I have seen in a long time.

If you have access to mp3 player or Audible, I would highly recommend that you listen to the books. The narrator, Luke Daniels, has all of the characters down just like I would think of them. His depiction of Oberon (the Druid's dog) is hilarious and heart-lifting!

Jennifer C. | 1722 comments Holy crap you're fast! Great job!

On a completely different note... we need to get our early roll in. We may need it the last week if we're racing to the finish. I know that the last week of the month is bad because everyone is trying to finish a bunch of books at once, but for the next roll can we maybe all agree to choose books that we know we'll be able to finish by early Thursday? Early being maybe by 8 PM EST? I think you actually have to post the links to the reviews on Thursday night and then I'll still have to wait to roll until Friday morning. I think this is how it works anyway. Maybe I need to double check with Jenne. We would only need to finish early one week though. You can only get one free pass. Let me know what you guys think.

Series # or Alternate: #2
Spot: #23
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
Finished: 25th of February, 2014
Review:
A new genre for me and quite a surprise. I liked that the focus was more on the crime committed than on the science fiction, although I didn't mind this kind of science fiction at all. As a fact I would like to read more of this kind of science fiction, a bit of exploration as to what would happen when we get to go and live on another planet for example.
