This book is about a girl whose mother is kidnapped. The mother and the girl have a power that does not allow anyone to tell lies to them. It may involve eye contact. My kids and I read this book about 8 - 10 years ago. I believe it is part of a series or trilogy. (view spoiler)[The kidnapper begins the book as a person, then is revealed to be a dragon.
