I guess we'd never discussed posts like this, but I'm not personally opposed. If you were to start pounding us over the head with "Read my book!" it'd be different, but this is cool. I've sent Flowers of Rock to my tablet. Not sure when I'll get to it, but I always appreciate a free book.

Okay, that's nice. Thanks! I was reluctant to do it (the free promo's been going on for a day already), but in the end I figured you would see that I just want to share my stuff with people who are interested, and that I'd possibly get some good feedback from people who really know the genre. I promise never to go into "READ MY BOOK!"-mode.
And thanks for downloading! I get what you say about actually reading it; I've downloaded heaps of free books the last days as I've followed my own promo. Don't know if I'll ever get around to read any of them.

I was reading this topic and this idea struck me.
So I created a folder for Self-Promotion so new authors can share content with us!
This way the authors can freely promote their work without fear of disturbing other members that may have no interest in knowing new books.

This is excellent thinking, Brenno. In my head I had thought there is a time and place for self-promotion, but now we know the place! And they can do it any time.

I got around to reading Jon's first short The Beast in the Rocks: Koholt Chronicles, Book I. Tales from the World of All and enjoyed it.
I mention in my review needing to adapt to the writing. That's not a bad thing necessarily. Every time I read Cormac McCarthy I have the same problem, but after diving in for a bit find the writing flows well.
The book is very much in a Grimdark vein. I'll have to read the next one - it is on my kindle reader and ready to roll.

It was very interesting to hear that you found the writing taking some time to getting used to! Even if that, as you say, doesn't have to be a negative thing, I'll keep this in mind when I write in the future.
Speaking of which, I have been quite busy with life in general lately, but I aim to have some new titles in this series ready before long.
I really enjoyed Koholt as a character. Very grimdark and easy to relate to. I also like when a fantasy warrior type doesn't go to a default sword or axe as their main weapon. Koholt preferring knives speaks to his willingness to get in close and work fast.

I don't want to be salesy, but I thought I'd give a heads up that the new title in my rather grimdark series is free today on Amazon. It would be great to hear your thoughts about it, knowing that you're probably the most qualified readers imaginable for this material.
It's called FLOWERS OF ROCK and it's here: http://amzn.to/1HFX4Ln
And please rip down this post as soon as you can if it's in violation of the group rules!
