I think a promo is when your book goes on sale. However, if your book is always 99/75 I guess you could post it here. Or we could make a Bargain Book section for 99/75 books. What do you think?

Yes, let's make a bargain books section. Does that make me and my work look sad and pathetic?

Makes you look more appealing to a first time buyer. I am planning to make Destiny and Faith the same when they go to Kindle.
I looked at others, (did my research) and most first books in a series were at $.99 for Kindle. The sequels will be priced at around $2.49. Jellybean may be cheaper as those books are only around 10k words.
That's probably a good idea. I wonder if it would be a good idea to make the next books in a series $2.99 so they can be on Kindle matchbook?

I guess my first 3 ebooks will always fit in here, as I plan to keep them FREE ALWAYS!

What's the matchbook again? Isn't it just to match your price elsewhere? Books less than 2.99 don't qualify?

I thought Kindle matched the price elsewhere whatever it was guys? Would love to know if I'm wrong though, as it may solve my current dilemma over whether launching my next book on Kindle is worth even doing (due to price matching/ download charges meaning I'd only get a few pence per ebook!)

Honestly Melinda, I see no point of having your book anywhere but Kindle. I had my books on iTunes via Smashwords and achieved zero sales.

Did you read Karen's thread on using Comic Creator Elias? Basically, I can convert my 60 page book with a picture on every page no problem to Kindle, but if I sell at less than $2.99 USD on Amazon, I would make only a few pence per book, due to their download fees...
I think that $2.99 is too high a price to charge to start off with. I want to at least try starting my next book at $0.99 on Apple, I'll just have to see what happens. But I don't really see the point bothering with Amazon if I'd only get a few pence per book. I guess if I get no Apple sales then I could next try the $2.99 on Amazon approach, just to see what happens, but while it's $0.99 still on Apple I may try offering it for sale from my website too (as pdf or EPUB), just to see if anything happens there...
I guess all we can do is experiment ❤️

Didn't read the thread. Sounds awful. Didn't realise you'd make so little. I thought you'd get the normal 35%/75% royalty rate. Hmm. So, no Kindle for you?
Yes, keep experimenting and let us know how it goes.
I'm about to start a book that's similar to yours and Mary D's in style so good to know all this. :)

Matchbook is where the customer gets the physical copy from Amazon and then they can get the eBook either for free or 99 cents. (Depends on which the author chooses)
So, for example, if you were to purchase a physical copy of Tell Me How You Say Good Night, you would then be sent an offer to download the Kindle version for free.

I regard $2.99 as fair and 99 cents as cheap. According to most of the kindle promotion sites $2.99 or less is a bargain.

Here's a little about the book:
Synopsis: This is not a typical fairy tale, and Artie is not a typical fairy. Artie is a misfit. His fellow Dust Fairies have a knack for dirtying people’s houses. They fire soot from their slingshots and enter crumb-spitting contests. While we sleep, they spread dust everywhere. Artie doesn’t make messes. He has a unique habit of collecting things. The other Dust Fairies don’t appreciate Artie’s collection of tidbits, so he spends his nights alone. One cold night, Artie’s loneliness leads to inspiration, and he creates something legendary. His story will have families looking at Dust Bunnies in a new light and may actually give kids an excuse NOT to clean their rooms. Artie’s story helps kids realize that we all have unique gifts and not everyone fits in with the crowd. (Children’s Picture Book, ages 3-9)

If you could control minds...would you? It's hard enough for Dawn hiding that she's a teen psychic from her new classmates and new step-family, but it gets even tougher when she learns that ESP spells D-A-N-G-E-R. When Dawn gets involved with a fortuneteller mentor and two girls who share her mysterious talents, she finally belongs after years of being a misfit. When she learns her new friends may be tied to freak "accidents" in town, Dawn has an important choice to make - continue developing the talent that makes her special or challenge the only people who have ever accepted her.
