Alright Team Gold, let's read!!But first, I have to finish my current read...I didn't plan that very well ;) but less than 50 pages from the end!
Got my tea and I'm starting with Humor - Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.
OK, now onto a dedicated Toppler book! For YA Zom-B Underground - mmmmmmm brains! And a nice healthy Saturday takeaway dinner...teehee.
Kat wrote: "OK, now onto a dedicated Toppler book! For YA Zom-B Underground - mmmmmmm brains!"Sounds like you need to be participating with Sarah in her Walking Dead-athon :)
I've made a good start with October Skies for historical-fiction. Now to make a proper dent in it as I'm snuggled up in bed while the wind is howling outside :-)
I'm finally home! I did start listening to The Firebird, my longest book, on the way home, but I think I'll try to finish a couple of my shorter books before the weekend's over. I'm going to start with The Rosie Project, my Chick Lit choice, which is about 7 1/2 hours and should be finished by early morning. Two others are about 6 hrs each, so maybe I can finish 3 by bedtime tomorrow.
Yeah to Esther for completing the first book for our team!!I have 6 hours left on The Book Thief and I've read one chapter of The Devil's Grin.

If only I could find a zombie romance, dystopian, fantasy and biography, I'd zombie up the whole week ;)
Soooo yesterday didn't quite go to plan. But it's 9:30am, I'm caffienated and have nothing else to do all day but read :-D
Kirila wrote: "I also only managed to start this morning... I am 100 pages through my Chick-lit Remember Me?"A great way to start the day, with a little Sophie Kinsella ;)
Last night I read The Doll: The Lost Short Stories by Daphne du Maurier, my shortest book planned for this Toppler. This morning I'm reading The Rosie Project, and I should be able to fit in one more today.
I'm supposed to go and sew all day today, but I'd rather stay home and read. So I shall. Now, I just need coffeeeeee.

Good morning Kat and teamies. I have coffee and just the aroma is waking me up.Is someone tracking our completed books against our plan of attack? I see we already have some finished books. I should be finished my first one by lunch time.
I took a break from reading last night and watched the movie Dreamgirls. I've watched that movie several times and that didn't stop me from crying (again) this time. LOL!
Maybe we need someone that is talented with charts and lists and such to make us a nice overview *hint hint*.
I'm tracking the finishes as posted, which are 4 so far. I'm listening to The Rosie Project, so I can spiff up the colors on my chart and post updates.
Perfect! I'm so glad Theresa and Erin have kept us organized.Do we have a loose thread that needs mystery, paranormal or (gasp) contemporary? I'm just thinking that there's a slim chance (very slim) that I could squeeze in another book.
Janice, you're in luck! Contemporary is filled, so you won't have to read for that. Mystery and Paranormal are both open.FYI, if everyone reads as listed, we'll have 9 of 12 strings completed. The open ones (per my chart numbers) are #12 across, #11 across, and #10 down.
Based on current progress, I think I will be able to fit in one more book. I am foreclosed from reading anything else in 10 down or 12 across, but I could read steampunk.
I am nearly finished my biography The Glass Castle! I have read it once before and that is moving things along quite quickly! What can I do next to help? I can do my original choice of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children as a YA, mystery or paranormal contender...
I just finished my Chick Lit. It was funny and sweet and less cheesy than I expected :)) (Remember Me?)
I finished Joyland at 2 this morning. It is a good book, and is not horror despite being Stephen King. I read it as a thriller (too bad Hitchcock isn't around to make the movie), but it could also be considered a mystery, if anyone is looking for one. It is set in 1973, so would not work for contemporary.

I can do my original choice of ..."Oh, Ann! The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls is a Memoir. In an earlier post Jaxnsmom had pointed out the same problem with Joe's selection of Story of a Soul: The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux.
Her comment was, "Yikes, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Story of a Soul falls under memoir, not biography."
In Joe's case, we realized he could swap his Biography and Non-fiction choices. Your book could fit Memoir or Non-fiction, but those slots are full. I'm committed to 5 books, and since I've already read Short Stories, I can't give up the Memoir slot. I also checked Anne and Mariab's books in Memoir and Non-fiction, and those won't fit other slots, either. We'll keep yours as an alternate in case someone doesn't finish the Non-fiction or Memoir slots.
On the positive side, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children should certainly fit the open YA slot.
I am done with my classic and realized that i do not have a audiobook started, so. I started a biography, the only slot left for me. I am aware that we do not need more readers for this genre, and honestly, i am not sure if i can get it done this week. Consider it as a backup.
I finished The Book Thief for Cultural. Now I'm having a bite of lunch (and checking in) before I dive into my next book - Rotters. At some point today I will have to shower, dress, and go outside! LOL!
Ann wrote: "Well that is not good news! I am casting aside one for the other right now!! Oh dear, oh dear!!"Oh Ann! Don't worry, I'm sure there will be another way we can use that book :)
I'm also struggling with my own Bio choice now....as my only other choices are a minimum of 600 pages.
Recommendations?!
Phew! I will also be listening to the audio book The Man Who Quit Money, in order to fulfill my biography obligation!
Ann wrote: "Phew! I will also be listening to the audio book The Man Who Quit Money, in order to fulfill my biography obligation!"Definitely biographical, and sounds intriguing!
Ann wrote: "Luckily tomorrow is a national holiday here in Canada, so I have all day to read and listen!"Not in all Canada.... No Holliday here.
Ann, I'm so glad you found another book for Biography! That one should definitely fit, and it's a rather short book, too.
I'm sorry, Esther, you're right! Only in the western part of the country, up to and including Ontario!
I just finished The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion for Chick Lit. I'm now listening to The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie for Crime. I'll finish that today for sure.
