Brad Kabosky | 9 comments Just finished The Fall by Ryan Cahill. I’ll be reading Of Blood and Fire after I finish Stephen King’s memoir.

I read the first three books of the series over the past year and enjoyed them

I enjoyed them too, mostly. There were a few portions that I thought were weak, and Asimov has a tendency to neglect his characters for the sake of the big picture plot.

Had I read this when I was younger, I probably would have focused on the survival aspects of the story, or how the boys separated into rival factions. Now that I am older, the part that I identified with most was the frustration and despair of yet another disorganized meeting that results in no sensible action being taken.

Oh yes, I agree 100%. The books are fun reads, but deep character development is not one of their strengths. And that was true of other Asimov books I've read as well.

Brad Kabosky | 9 comments Just finished Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie, and I really enjoyed this book in the trilogy so far!

Currently reading The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England by Brandon Sanderson. So far, it's a nice change of pace from the previous book that I read. Plus, it's nice that it's a much shorter story this time around.

Brad Kabosky | 9 comments I started The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England on the 5th last week for clarification because I just finished it earlier today (didn't read it all within 2 days).

Next for me is Babel: An Arcane History by R.F. Kuang.

Didn't particularly like it. Seemed like a rejected plot line from Foucault's Pendulum.
