I read that in January and loved it . Two very good development stories running side by side.
It reminded me of Blood Song , even to the point where both books had a Vaelin charachter

Blood Song is on my to-read list so I find that very exciting.

The two authors have acknowledged how similar their books are so you should enjoy Blood Song. The sequek to Stavelets book is out in January as well so worth waiting on

I just finished In Fury Born very enjoyable. I read it as soon as it arrived as I'd been a David Weber fan for years but didn't know about this one until recently.

What would you recommend as a starting book/reading order for David Weber, I've always noticed his books, just never purchased one.

I would suggest On Basilisk Station. It is the first of the Honor Harrington novels but can stand on its own easily. The ongoing story over the series, is really a back ground thing for the first six or seven books. You won't feel you have to get the next one at the end so you're not committing yourself to a 25 book read. On Basilisk Station is also half the size of In Fury Born, otherwise I would have said to give that a go.

I finished Railsea by China Mieville. I've mixed feelings on it. I liked the story and the characters. It had interesting twists but sadly the style irritated me a little too much throughout . It was my first of his books and I don't imagine I'll rush to read more

I just finished The Incorruptibles by John James Horner , a debut fantasy novel just out. It was really good, Sort of a fantasy equivalent of firefly , taking standard fantasy species and themes and placing them in a wild west setting. Slap the Roman Empire in charge of it all and thats were this book starts out. The characters and plot were pretty good as well ☺

I recently finished a reread of The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly which is still one if the best fairy tale twists out there . Uts sirt if a mix of Narnia and Pans Labyrynth. I'm now reading the new Anne Rice book Prince Lestat . Very good so far

Interview and Vampire Lestat are both great in very different ways. Personally, I'd stop there. The rest aren't bad at all but increasingly start to milk the concept.

Started and finished reading The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes Saturday. A late birthday present that's been on my to read list for a long time! I really enjoyed it - proper creepy. Vol. 2 is now on my wish list :)

This is my bugbear of graphic novels, I never got into it. It's almost universally acclaimed (and the highest rated book in my Goodreads "Read" list...) but something just never clicked with me, still no idea why. Maybe I'll re-read it one day and see if I can change my tune :S

Noooo it's nothing like that! I mean, yes, love triangles, but there's no sparkly vampires and the female protagonist actually has some sort of personality AND she can stand up for herself! I'd like to see Bella Swan try that :P

Its a great book and the landscape it is set in is very imaginative. But I couldn't understand the whole idea behind Phineas' story. It sidetracks the main book every 50 pages and it doesn't come to a conclusion. That's the problem with indie books. They don't cut the book where it needs to be cut.

Recently finished Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys on audiobook--- a choice I highly recommend. We all know how important a good reading voice is. Also, Ursula le Guin's The Other Wind. It was a good quick read, with all the feels in the denouement. Each was my first by those authors and I'm convinced their others works are worth a go.

So good. I really, really enjoyed it, especially the ending. PKD really kept me hooked on Dekard's internal struggle. I just gave it over to my friend and she's almost done now, too.

Just finished my first book of the year , a proof of Brian Staveley's The Providence of Fire
Wow. It was amazing . Epic fantasy at its best. Loved it. Great start to my reading year.

Plowed through and was stunned to find it finished so soon. Then I remembered it was a YA novella. I want to pick up the other 2 books soon, but taking a break. It's a fantastic weird bio-steam-punk setting my only issue is the author uses period speech even in descriptive and action text. Not just dialog, so it can be jarring.

Finished The Sparrow for the Sword and Laser read. It was alright, but I liked the ideas presented more than the actual story itself if that makes any sense.

Started on a re-read of City of Stairs for Dragons and Jetpacks. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy reading it again so soon, but I find I'm really enjoying picking up on little details that have so much more meaning after you've read it once and know all the details of the story and the world.

I just finished The Bone Collector; a great read for anyone who likes crime thrillers or mysteries. Kept me guessing the whole way through. I couldn't put it down. :)

'Bout to re-read The Hobbit and LotR. It's been far too long sing I've given them a read. :D
