Oh I read that a couple of weekends ago and loved it so much! I know Noelle Stevenson worked on 'Lumberjanes' but that wasn't really my cup of tea - I gave up after book 2 of that series. I felt much more comfortable with the older themes of 'Nimona' and I felt a sort of pride that this was created solely by her!

Maria Hill AKA MH Books (mariahilldublin) I am reading The Descent by Jeff Long with another group at the moment. Total trashy thriller - but it's so much fun :)

Also started The Parentations by Kate Mayfield on audio. Beautiful Language but I keep falling asleep - which is everything to do with working long hours and visiting a family member in hospital - so being tired - and nothing to do with the book itself.

Finished Obsidio and Something Wicked This Way Comes yesterday.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I finished Herland by Charlotte Perkins Gilman Herland by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It's a feminist Uptopian story written and serialized in 1915. Although somewhat dated Gilman's points must have been cutting edge at the time. I enjoyed it and gave it 3 stars.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 803 comments The last two fantasy books I've read are Memories of Ice and Kushiel's Mercy and I loved them both. They each got the rare five stars from me.

I'm currently working my way through the seven books of The Worst Witch. They're quick reads, but a nice nostalgia trip from when I was about 8 or so. Onto the last one this evening.

WreckEm711 (ttualum13) I've been reading the Stellar Conquest series by David VanDyke, really really enjoying them. I got the first book free on a bookbub email, and have been going through the next few books in the series.

He’s a local writer to me, so I’ve got a few books by him but have only read one or two so far.

Very cool! I'd never read any of his books before now (apparently this is part of a pretty long series), but I'm really enjoying his writing style. His military experience really shines in it!

WreckEm711 (ttualum13) Just finished Magic of Thieves while I was waiting to get paid so I could get Conquest of Earth, and was really disappointed. It started of so well, and then a horrible protagonist really killed it for me. There were a few poorly written plot devices I could have overlooked (I'm not much of a critic, I can overlook a lot if I'm enjoying myself), but halfway through the book I was rooting for bad things to happen to the protagonist and have no interest in reading book two.

I hate not liking books, it's honestly pretty rare for me, so when it does I feel like I missed out on a new world I could have gotten into.

I know what you mean. I only have time to read maybe 30 books a year so it really sucks when I hit a bad one. I've been pretty lucky that I usually pick things I end up loving but every now and then I pick a big ol piece of shit.

WreckEm711 (ttualum13) I just finished Twisted (A Ghost Story): Lights Out Series - Book 1, I'd picked it up free a while back and read it as a quick palate cleanser before I moved on to Conquest of Earth, and it was a really pleasant surprise! It's SUPER short, took maybe an hour to read? I loved the main character, highly recommend if you want something quick, fun, and a little spooky.

Hah same, since my little one was born I've had a harder time balancing all my hobbies, so I try to be selective. I know your struggle :(
