Book Discussion - Non BotM

The last book I read was...
Finished both Tarkin & Thrawn. Thoroughly enjoyed both. Not sure which I enjoyed more or which character find more compelling. Outside of anyone with force powers they were arguably the 2 most important men to the Empire and it's rise to power and continued dominance for so long.
I recently finished The Black Lung Captain
and am now reading Ketty Jay tales #3, The Iron Jackal
. These books are really fun. I chuckle quite often while reading.

I am really enjoying it.

I need to finish that series. The e-books are more expensive than the paperbacks! I'll just get the paperbacks, I guess.

I was looking for a boxed set but haven't seen one.
I have three trilogies by Maria Snyder, matching covers, same publisher, yet one of each set is a slightly different size. Must be a conspiracy.

That's just weird. I also hate it when a series switches cover designs mid-series. It messes with my sense of order! The Graveyard Queen series is the latest series that's done that to me. The first three books have one design and the last three are different. >_<
Don't get me started on that subject! I don't want to end up flailing at my bookcase with my fists, the edges of the shelves'll hurt!
I feel like I am in the minority on this. I only have a few series that actually match up. Most of them are mismatched soft and hardcover, covers and all that. About 50/50 to the amount I have matching. Doesn't bother me really.
Alright, so I finished The Ace of Skulls. No more Ketty Jay for me and it makes me sad. That was a fun ride.Next up is Kings of the Wyld.
My problem is if i want to read a book that is new I usually do not want to wait for a paperback to come out. and if I started a series that was three books in already I likely had the paperbacks for them, then would end up with a couple hardcovers.
Or if i buy a bunch from a used book sale then I end up with different covers, sizes and all that.
I also rarely sell or give books away, because as soon as i do I decide I want to read that book again. So it has really become quite disjointed but I don't mind as long as I get to read the book :)

Earlier this evening I finished
Bring the Jubilee by Ward Moore. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood for this book. Lots of philosophical discussions. Somewhere between 3.5 to 4 stars. I did round up.
Many of you will have read the classic short story The Lottery but check out this link for an audio recording. Truly creepy!http://ia800504.us.archive.org/34/ite...
I just finished The Age of Magicby Ben Okri. It was....peculiar. I really can't decide what I think about it, there were interesting bits and confusing bits and weird bits and an overall lack of cohesion that sometimes fitted things together in spite of themselves and really it was just odd.Has anyone else read it? I'd love to hear what you thought!
A Net of Dawn and Bones by C. ChancyA different urban fantasy.
For one thing the heroine is magical and knows the most about the magical world
I just finished Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and it was amazing! I must read more (or all).of his books soon!

My favorite book on writing is Zen in the Art of Writing.
I've recently finished A Song for Arbonne (my third Kay book this year), Burial Rites (soon to be a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence), My Life as a White Trash Zombie, and City of Stairs. Now I'm reading Malice by John Gwynne.
Veronica, Malice may come off as a bit cliche, but the series as a whole is fantastic. One of my favorites in the last couple of years. Also even though Malice is is pretty darn good it just keeps getting exponentially better as they progress.

Though I've really had it up to here with (view spoiler) I can feel my blood pressure rising every time I read one of their chapters.
I finished The Heretic's Apprentice by Ellis Peters a couple days ago.I'm nearing the end of City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett. Hoping to finish it up tonight.
Just finished two, The Collapsing Empire by Scalzi, very good read and Father Christmas' Fake Beard by -Terry Pratchett, a pretty decent short story collection for kids.
I recently finished Oathbringer and The Summer Tree, which is the first in the Fionavar Trilogy by Guy Gavriel Kay. Kay has cemented his place on my list of favorite authors.
The Fall of Dragons which was the end of the Traitor Son cycle. It got one of my very rare 5 star reviews. Amazing series and great ending.

@Jo Beth, Atwood is an author I mean to get to eventually. I haven't heard of the other one.
