Once Upon A Time and Lara

James looked back at Calla, "Come on, just get on." He said, trying to hint that this was not the time to be picky, "I'll see you in a bit."
A she-centaur grinned and pulled Calla swiftly onto her back, "We can not carry two passengers anyways." She said, galloping forwards to catch up with the others.

Danny saw the fire. He was nervous too."Sam look at the fire." Pointing at the fire trying to make a clear warning sign. He didn't mind riding on the back of the centaur. It was really cool.

James slid of his as well, "Thank you for the ride." He said, "It was really fun."
The female centaur raised a brow, "Fun?" She smiled, "I am glad you enjoyed it. It was once in a lifetime experience." She said, hinting that it would not happen again. She obviously though of humans as lower than herself, as all centaurs did.
The centaur Calla was riding sped up, seemingly flying over the ground as Calla had requested. The fire, and the camp grew further and further into the distance, until it wasn't visible at all any more. They arrived beside the others, and the she-centaur stopped, waiting for Calla to dismount

Wow. That was so much fun. "Thanks." He jumped off the back. He saw Calla had change her outfits again. "Good morning Sam." He said with a smile.

James watched the centaurs gallop away, and then smiled as he saw Calla's outfit switch. "Well, that was fun." He said, "Sam, what on earth are you looking for." He looked up at the wall, "This is a huge wall, with nothing on it."

"I been meaning to ask what are you? Those centaurs call you um a starlighter or something along that line." What is Sam. Should they be worried?

Finally she stopped and smiled, pressing her finger against one part in the stone. She whispered something that was not English, before a blue light sprang from her finger and ran along the stone, outlining a large shape. It looked like a door. The light spread, curling and winding in designs and runes on the door, until it stopped. The door creaked and groaned opening up into a magnificent courtyard. Statues of tall, slender beings were here and there, along a path into the side of a mountain. There was another door at the end of the path, seemingly into the side of the mountain face. Sam began walking along the path. As soon as they entered the courtyard, the gate swung shut behind them and the door disappeared. "Yes, I am a starlighter." Sam replied, "Some who spotted us, wrote about us and named us elves. We have the energies of the stars flowing in our veins. So we can shapeshift, giving us any appearance, and power we wish." She tried to explain.

"Where are we Sam?" So she isn't a witch. That is good he thought.

"Flahediel." Sam answered. "The home of my people." She smiled as the doors opened, revealing a huge cavern on the inside. The floor was smooth and polished, the roof was rough and cavelike, but beautiful never the less. Huge stone columns made to mimick twisting tree branches were placed here and there. All in all, this place could have fit a large city inside it. And it made Sam feel small. "I haven't been here in forever..." She breathed.

Danny's jaw open."Wow this is beautiful. So how old are?" Not exactly sure if she will love forever or not. She wasn't as bad as he thought she was. She turned out to be nice.

"I'm 16." She answered. Wondering why he asked that, she walked down the steps and towards one of the tunnels.

"Ok." So she didn't live that long."So um is this the place you were talking about Calla will be ruling?" This was a very honest question.

Sam giggled, "Not ruling, ruling from. This place is too powerful to be ruled. If only the other starlighters were here..." She sighed.

"Let's say if Callas power start freaking out or her crazy dark aunt tries turning her again what would happen?" If this place had tons of power that Calla could absorb wouldn't that be crazy to put her here.

Sam shook her head, "Nothing." She smiled, "Like I said, this place is too powerful to just let its power be sucked away by one witch, regardless of how powerful she is. Only starlighters are able to get past the lock, for one, and for two, it usually takes a very experienced starlighter to be able to siphon it out." She smiled, "Come, I want to show you something." She said, walking slowly towards a tunnel.

"Ok, but still you said she is more powerful now. Do you exactly know how much power it takes?" He was worried. He wasn't trying to sound pushy.

James watched Calla blush and he laughed, "So, you wanna explore with me?" He asked, watching as Danny and Sam went off on their own.

"Yeah, so what exactly do you want to show me?" He wasn't nervous. He was glad he had sometime with Sam. She was a nice girl to be around once you get to know her.

Sam smiled, leading them around another corner and into a huge room. Inside, there were many stone carvings all along the walls. Each depicted great battles, some with starlighters, some with centaurs, others depicted dragons and other mythical creatures. The whole floor in this room was covered in stone carvings of eggs. Realistic looking eggs about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. All of them were pale grey, but some had spots, and others didn't. "This." Sam said, "Is what I wanted to show you." She grinned and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath in, and a deep breath out. "This is the reason I brought us here." She said.

His mouth dropped."Do you think this will help us with the battle?" He hope the answer was yes. He didn't give up everything for a little trip that lead to no where.

Sam giggled. She motioned to all the stone statues, "These are for more than looking at." She grinned, "Guess what we use them for." She said. Raising her eyebrows, she dared him to guess.

"I don't know to tell a story?" He had no clue. How was he suppose to know?

Sam grinned, "Good guess, but no." She walked up to one of the egg-sculptures and touched it fondly. She moved to another and another, running her hands over them. There were thousands in the room. She brushed her hand over another, and gasped. A spark of light sprang between her finger and the stone. Slowly, the light spread along the egg, the outer stone covering flaking off, revealing a glistening white pearl coloured shell beneath. Sam smiled, pure joy on her features.

"So what exactly is used for then?" What is this place? Why are they here?

Sam smiled, "Watch." The egg began to shudder and roll back and forth. A crack split across its surface, and then another, and another. Then the top popped off and a mass of wet, slimy looking flesh fell out. What ever it was tore at the membrane encasing itself and shrugged out of the egg. Shaking itself a little, it opened two enormous blue eyes and stared at Sam. It peeped and waddled over to her. Sam stroked its forehead and it closed it's eyes in contentment, a weird rumbling purr emitting from it's throat. Then it looked up and shook itself, unfurling two large, wet, leathery wings. It stretched its neck and tail, shaking a bit before settling back down again. It was now at least eight feet in length, from nose to tail tip. And when unfurled, it had a wingspan of ten feet. As it's scales dried, the small white dragon shone like it was covered in gems. It walked over to Sam and nuzzled her hand with it's nose. "Now you know why this place was made so large." Sam said, smiling down at her new dragon. "My folk lived in peace with dragons for years." She gestured to the eggs. "Each of these are protected by magic, and will only hatch for the person they were meant to spend their lives with." She smiled, "Go-on, find yours."

His mouth flew open. He gets pet dragon. This was dream come true. Hah in his parents face saying there is no such thing."I get a dragon." His face was a bright red. "I wanted one for so long." He looked over at Sam.

Sam grinned, her white dragon unfurled a wing and hooked the thumb-claw on it over her shoulder. She shrugged it off, laughing, "Yup. You better believe it. I wasn't of age last time I was here, so I haven't been allowed to get one until now." She turned to her dragon, looking it in the eyes, "I will name you Arae, wich means 'light'." The dragon opened its mouth and let out a satisfied roar. I high pitched roar. Sam giggled "That'll get better with time." She reassured it.

"Awesome." That is all he could think of to say."How do I know which one is mine?" This was a really good question since he didn't deal with magic.

Sam smiled, "You'll feel a spark, or a prick, when you touch it." She replied.

"It is about time you guys came." He said. He went back to finding his dragon. He found this small egg. He touched it nothing happen."How long does it take to find one?"

James stared opened mouthed, dragons? He didn't think they existed. And what was this talk about finding them? They already found it, it was sitting right in front of Sam.

"Yeah what is in there." He got frustrated with trying to find one. He sighed. "Isn't this cool James. I get a pet dragon."

James smiled, "Yeah. It is so cool." He leaned on one egg and stumbled as it rolled over. The stone flaked off, revealing a black shell. The dragon hatched and a scaly black head popped out. It peeped at James and waddled over, shaking out two large black wings. James grinned, "Would you look at that. The first one I touched too." He said, rubbing the little dragon's head. It was smaller than Sam's, only by a little, but it was more streamlined, chiseled for flying. It would grow up to be fast. "I'll name you.... Charcoal." The dragon snorted, "Ok, then no. How about Dusk?" The dragon rumbled happily, and then wandered over to Arae to say hi. They sniffed noses and began playing together. Arae was already getting faster, and more agile. Dusk was still wet, and his wings clung to his sides, so he was more clumsy.

"That is just silly story Calla." He shook his head. He sat down on a rock. He noticed something wedge in between the rock. He picked it up and it started it hatch. "Look I found it. I'm going to name you Spot." He shook it is head in agreement."Go ahead little guy." He wouldn't move.
"Awe look guys Spot seemed to inherit Danny's stubbornness." She laughed.

James stared at the three dragons, a black one, a white one, and a... "What color would you call Spot, Danny?" James asked.

"I have no clue. It looks like a color." He heard Callas remark."Your not thinking what I think your thinking." His dragon stared up at like he was confused but what he said."Don't give that look."
"Yes I am Danny."

"Wow." James said, "A colour. Ok, then. Do you think he is more red? Or orange?" Dusk crawled over to James, nudging his hand and rumbling sadly, "You hungry?" He asked it.

"I don't know it looks like red and orange puked on him." His dragon didn't move."Why won't my dragon move?" He asked.

James smiled, "I don't know. Maybe it's because he takes after you." He looked over at the red dragon, "Spot, come here." He cooed.

He sat on the ground pouting."How come it listens to you, but not me?" This wasn't cool. He got his dream pet and it didn't like him.

James smiled, "Because I asked it nicely." He said, "Hey, this dragon may be good for you. It will teach you how to respond nicely." He grinned, "And maybe even learn to love something." James stroked Spot's head, "See? He just wants you to show him some love."

"Hey are you informing me that I'm incapable of liking something." He smiled. "Come here Spot." It didn't come. This wasn't funny.

"You ok?" Sam asked Calla.

"I am being nice." He gave up."I will mess around with it later." He was angry. This is so not fair. He can't have one thing that likes him.

Sam sighed, "Pretty much everywhere. This whole place was built to house dragons. There is not one room a dragon could not fit into. And there are many rooms in here."

"I will give up for now. Only because I'm hungry." He is not a quiter.

"Excuses excuses." James said, "You're dragon is probably hungry too. Why don't you ask him? Then we can all go eat together."

"Those aren't excuses they are facts." He looked at his dragon."Are you hungry?" It didn't even do anything. Having a dragon was stupid.
"So you want to ride with James." That what she was hinting at. She could come out and say that. Was she jealous?
