Once Upon A Time and Lara

James sat down as well, clearing a spot on the grass. Laying down his cloak, he stretched out on it. There were so many strange things happening. He knew the witches meant no harm, but what would they meet on this journey? Did Sam really know where she was going? What sort of dangers would they face? Eventually, his eyes closed on their own.

Danny quickly fell asleep.

Then she frowned a bit, "The stories I grew up on told of wolves and bears the size of houses, strange magical beings that lived in trees, and living rock animals that looked like mountains." She sighed, "Of course those were just fables... but you never know." She looked up, "This probably looks familiar because this is very near to that ancient trade city: Arean?" She smiled, "My mom and I would have picnics in these feilds after visiting the city."

James yawned and looked around. He heard something moving. He jumped up and pulled out his sword, "What is it?" He asked quietly.

"What is it?" Danny saw Callas sword flicker different colors of flames. Was she evil?

Jake leapt at the wolf and hopped from a large rock onto its massive back. He raised his sword, prepairing to give the final blow to its neck, when the wolf swung its head around, clamping its jaws onto his leg. Sam flinched as she heard the bone shatter, and then James' scream as the wolf tore him from his back and flung him to the ground.

It all happened so quick Danny didn't know what happen. His friend was hurt. Calla was causing a storm like she did when she was dark. He was afraid.

Sam closed her eyes and fixed James' leg. He groaned and then flexed it, "See? All better." He looked over at Calla as he stood, "Are you going to be all right?" He asked, "And what was that thing anyways?"

"Are you a dark witch?" Danny was concerned.
"No I'm not." She didn't know what she was. "Um i need to tell you guys something." Sam already knew about her mom.

James looked over, was she hiding something? "What is it?" He asked.

"So your saying your a dark witch?"
"I'm not a dark witch." Storm clouds started forming in the distance.

James backed up, shocked. So because he had dared to like a witch, now all the witches wanted him dead!?! he frowned, "They want to kill me because of you!?" he asked angrily.

"So your using James to get what you want."
"No I would never do that." She was in tears now. The storm wasn't getting any better.

Sam looked up at the sky, "I don't think that's you Calla..." She realized, "Run! Guys, the dark witches are coming!"

"Hi sweetheart." Her aunt landed touch the ground. Her aunts black eyes were sucking her in. "I didn't get to finish the job I started the other night."
She went over to her and put her hand on her. She felt the darkness inside. Her eyes changed black.
"Let me go." She was struggling. The storm touched. It was the biggest one she ever seen.
"Never. You like that power don't you."

James backed up, he knew this would be a battle best left for the witches to handle themselves.

"Yes." She regret saying that. She is fighting as much as she could."I said let go of me." She was angry.
"I guess the darkness isn't strong enough. Grabbed the other witch Marie." This time her aunt put all her darkness in her. She felt like she was drifting away."Now what do you want?"
"Power." She said.
"Yes you do." Her Aunt grinned.

She began rising into the sky, her hair and eyes glowing, "I warned you..." She growled down to the black witch. "Don't you think there is a reason good always triumphs over evil?" She grinned rougishly, "It's because white magic, is stronger than dark magic." She said. "And you, madam, are rather unfortunate, because, I, am white magic." She laughed, "You don't stand a chance. If I were you, I would surrender now, and leave. Before things get ugly."

"James help me please." She is not going to drift away. It is hard not to smell the power.
"He can't help you now." She needed power. Before she knew it she started sucking out Sams power.
"I'm sorry Sam."
"Why are you sorry."

She took a deep breath and let it go, sighing as the last of it left her. She knew it was the only way that would get Calla back to normal permanently, for sure. So she was willing to die doing it.
The light left her and she fell from the sky, crumpling against the ground.
James ran over to Sam and sheilded her, hoping to protect her in some way. He watched as the light entered Calla's body. He knew good magic was stronger than dark magic. Calla just had to gain control of it.

"What I did your doing that."
"Stop. I said let go of me." Her eyes were blue. Her aunt went flying and crashed. She went to look and she was gone. She ran over to Sam. "Stay awake." This was her only friend.

James stared in shock. Sam had just... died! She was dead! She died for her friend! He didn't think witches were capable of that kind of sacrifice, that devotion to a friend. He bowed his head, she had been a better person than he was.

"Ah James you might want to calm Calla down."

Sam blinked her eyes and gasped, her empty lungs sucking in air, "Too late for what?" She whispered, smiling weakly.

Danny was glad Sam didn't die. He didn't say anything though.

James nodded, Calla couldn't just leave now. She admitted that she liked him! And he was beginning to like her... "Come with us to the mountains Calla." He said.

Danny felt sad for her. She had everything she ever wanted and she is going to throw it away.

James couldn't believe his ears. She claimed she loved him, and yet she didn't want to be near him. He was so confused, "Please Calla, don't go." He said softly.

"How do we know we can trust you?"
"Shutup" Storm clouds starting to form in the distance."See my powers get stronger with my emotions."
"James you should clam the poor witch down." He met every word he said.
The storm clouds were coming faster.

Sam turned to Calla, "You need to get control of your emotions." She said honestly, "Don't let them rule you."
She laid a hand on her arm, "I'm not scared of you hurting me." She said. "Will you please come with us? Running away will not help anything."

"Because you have too? No one is making you come along."

Danny didn't like the idea of Calla coming along.

James jaw slide open, but he quickly slammed it shut. He couldn't peel his eyes off Calla. She had changed dress so quickly it was astonishing, with the new look, she looked almost human. He grinned, wow she's cute.

"So where are exactly are we?" He was going to try to restart fresh.

Sam realized that Danny had asked the question. Was he opening up that hard shell of suspicion around him finally? She wondered. "We're in the Attatica valley, just East of the Attatican Mountains." She replied. "The city of Arean is just to our right, about 10 miles give or take a little." She looked at the mountains longingly, "But up in those mountains, we'll be safe."

"Oh. Are we going to find somewhere safe to stay?" He didn't want to run into no evil witches.

"Yes." Sam answered him, "I have only been there once with my father..." She looked down for a moment, and then shook her head, "But we will be perfectly safe there."

Whatever sick game they were playing he didn't want to be involve.
"I agree with the witch." Danny said with a smirk.
"That witch has a name."Calla was getting really bad at Danny.
