Week 8: Key & Forest
The Heist by Janet Evanovich
Finished: 3/15/14
Rating: ♥♥♥
Hunter: not like the hunter and the hunted (p. 126)
Horse: all female creatures, cows, horses, and hens (p. 83)
Long Hair:her brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail (p. 10)
and/or
with her hair this morning, brushing it out and letting it fall to her shoulders (p. 38)
Key: She slipped her key card into the lock (p. 13)
Forest: blended into the meadows and forest (p. 94)
This is not one of Evanovich's usual humorous escapades, which is why I read her books. The main female character was dry, and serious and the antagonist, a male character, was semi-humorous. I thought the book was over detailed and boring in some parts. So if your spoiled by the humor in her Stephanie Plum series or the humor in the Wicked series this book will most likely be boring for you.
IDK if she is the same as James Patterson when he writes with another writer. I swear most of the book is by the newbie author. After reading a few of those I stopped :(When you have an author you like you're looking forward to that type of style at least IMO.
I figured with the co-writer being Lee Goldberg (the author of the Monk series] it would still be as humorous as Ms. Evanovich's books normally are. I'm still not sure if I want to give the next book in the series a try.

The few co-authors ( I tried a couple different ones) of James Patterson - I have no idea what they wrote. After the few I was wondering if they were new authors that he took under his wing??? Honestly, since I didn't enjoy the books - I didn't go look, lol
Week 8: Key/Forest
by Neil Gaimanread 3/15/14 - 3 stars
Not really my cup of tea, but I can see where fans would really like it. At least it was a short, fast, easy read. To me, it just seemed like the narrator kept rambling on with no real point to his story. It was all him remembering something that happened in his childhood and maybe it was supposed to be scary, but it just seemed weird to me. There were some pretty good descriptions at some points of the story, however.
Items claimed:
monster pg 17 "..Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster and the Wolf-Man."
prince pg 34 "...his boys, Prince Dickon and Prince Geoffrey..."
fictional place pg 53 "Why didn't adults want to read about Narnia..."
key pg 16 "...passenger side door with his spare key."
forest pg 39 "...with every step we took into the forest."

Review:
Third and last in the trilogy that focuses on Charles and Anna and I am not ready to say goodbye to them. Charles is struggling with his job as enforcer for the Marok and Anna is intent on saving him. Bran sends them to Boston to help the FBI solve a murder involving the Fae, thinking this will help them resolve their issues. The murder mystery in this one is very well done as are all the characters we meet along the way. And Anna and Charles are wonderful as always. As one of the characters says during the story, "when I grow up I want to be like Charles." Or I might want to be Anna. Either one would be fine with me. I miss them already.

Forest: p. 145 temperate rain forest
Elf: p. 212 Lord of the Elves
Bear: p. 172 we have a moose, not a bear

Review: While I thoroughly enjoyed book 1 of this series - book 2 I found to be totally frustrating and confusing. It provided a lot of questions without a lot of answers. See frustrated, lol. Anyway, the author still writes interesting, well developed characters. I really need book 3 - hopefully it has some answers for me.

We should have 8 pts from bonuses not 7. Still no superbonus week, darn. My book this week would be really good for that.I will be reading
I plan to also claim whatever items will give us the most points at the end of the week. My book has every item that I still need to claim. However, I would like to claim apple, bear, thief.
Found my book & it's on my list for the month & will work for another challenge *happy dance*

Will do!
Do any of you ladies know of another place to search out words for books? I do use Amazon but the book I'm searching doesn't have any listings there.

I'm planning on using bug this week along with lamp but waiting to hear from Dawn for definite answer.
Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ wrote: "Do any of you ladies know of another place to search out words for books? You could try PM'ing some of us to see if we have the book in ebook format to search for you....
Melissa, where's the short person in that book? If it also has bug, I will be using that as well. Happy Dance for me, too!!
Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ wrote: "Do any of you ladies know of another place to search out words for books? The only thing about searching there is you have to search for plurals (ie. if you search for bug and nothing comes up, you should also search for bugs). At least that is the way it used to be. I haven't used them in a while. I prefer Amazon.
~Leslie~ wrote: "Does anyone know if insect works for bug?"Yes - I believe she put in the Item discussion thread that any kind of insect/spider would work
Thanks, Melissa! I was too lazy to open up that thread. Silly me!Okay, then I will be reading
It has short person, purple (on cover) and insect. I will look and see what else it has.
