Turtlecollector Dennis Week 6: Wolf/Paper

Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher by Jim Butcher
Dresden Files #3
read 3/6/14 - 3.5 stars

Another good adventure in Chicago with Harry running around town trying to get rid of the bad guys. There are ghosts trying to kill people and Harry tries to figure out why they seem to be after him and some of his friends. Once he discovers there has to be someone directing the ghosts, the danger increases dramatically. Although not a genre I usually read, I am continuing the series since these books have been enjoyable so far.

Items claimed:

elf pg 362 "...with elves and tinkerbell pixies..."

wolf pg 287 "...the big, bad wolf tried to head her off..."

short person pg 13 "...roomful of sleeping babies.."

lamp pg 129 "I fetched a kerosene lamp..."

paper pg 136 "...pencil on the blank piece of paper."

message 359: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Mar 08, 2014 08:17AM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis I will be reading Once in a Lifetime (Lucky Harbor #9) by Jill Shalvis

I hope it might have a fictional place. Since a bookstore is involved, maybe it will have fictional place, but it also has most of the items I haven't claimed yet.

I will also be claiming bird, shoe, nudity

message 360: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ I think I have my book picked. It has Bug (cat and horse); Wind (poss long hair and nudity); key/lamp and maybe shoe (need to see if the sentence is ok with Dawn as it specifies heels not shoes)

I'll keep an eye on here to see what everyone else is claiming to see what the best way to go will be.

message 361: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I'll be reading Tricked (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #4) by Kevin Hearne

I'll claim Monster, Short Person, & Lamp

message 362: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I'll be home early and will start looking. Don't know why these words together made me giggle.

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 1469 comments I'll be reading Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3) by Beth Revis . I'll be claiming Grandmother, Horse, Long Hair, Flying Ship, and Stool.

message 364: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I think I have a book. It has both stool and grandmother.

The other words I can claim are:
bread, apple, key, shoe
Naked, wind
bird, horse

If you want me to read another book that has elf or some other book, I will continue to look. I am not stuck on reading this book.

message 365: by Dusty (new)

Dusty Found my book. It has most of the words I need. Will decide later.

Jennifer H Week 7: Grandmother & Stool

Tricked (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #4) by Kevin Hearne
Tricked by Kevin Hearne
Finished: 3/8/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Grandmother: My grandmother lives below the mesa (p. 254)
Monster: I'd believe most any monster is real (p. 67)
Short Person: It looked like a little old lady (p. 47)
Lamp: with a heinous plastic lamp on top of it (p. 223)
Stool: bar stools and a window (p. 18)

Been on an Atticus reading spree. This installment has to be some of the best dog lovin', tree huggin', god killin' stuff yet. It unnerves me how Kevin Hearne understands and writes the mind of Oberon. I smile constantly and laugh often. All you could ask for in a fantasy world.

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 1469 comments Week #7:Grandmother and Stool
Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3) by Beth Revis by Beth Revis

Review:This is the stunning conclusion to the Across the Universe Trilogy. Amy and Elder are determined to make life on planet side work and be different from life on the Godspeed. Neither of them realized nothing is as it appears. The Frozen's demand to be superior to shipborn colonists. More problems arise. What will happen next? Answers in Shades of Earth.

~Melissa~ Week 7: Grandmother & Stool

In Rides Trouble (Black Knights Inc., #2) by Julie Ann Walker
Finished: 3/9/14
Rating:4♥
Review: We met both Becky and Frank in book 1. Verbal sparks fly whenever they are together. Frank refuses to do anything about it as Becky is 'too young' in his eyes due to circumstances in his past. Then there is the lady who lives in Lincoln Park behind the red door that stands in Becky's way as well. I enjoyed this book - Frank and Becky are pretty funny together. The whole explanation for the girl behind the red door. hmmm- didn't work for me but I'm not the author..

Items Claimed:

Grandmother:p103 "It makes me sound like I should be Angel's Grandmother"
Stool: p47 he squirmed against the stool he was sitting on...
Bug: p285 he was covered in bugs
Long Hair: p133 as she raised her slender arms to sluice the water from her long hair
Lamp: p241 Clicking on the lamp...

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Week 7: Grandmother
Bonus Word: Stool
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
3/11/14 4★
Review:I love this book on so many levels. It is funny and charming and sweet all on it's own merits, but it is also one of the best peeks into the difficult life of someone with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The main character Don is a genetics professor who has started a Wife Project. After meeting Rosie, who is totally unsuitable, Don's world is completely turned upside down. Because so much of my life is filled with people who struggle with socially appropriate behavior due to being on the Asberger's end of the behavior spectrum, I found myself completely in love with Don and rooting crazily for him. I am so glad that Rosie figured it out in the end.

Grandmother: p. 175 looking at her grandmother
Stool: p. 208 Rosie sat on a stool
Horse p. 259 he's a dark horse
Wind: p. 92 shouted over the wind
Bread p. 266 buttered a bread roll

I can pick other words if it will be helpful.

message 381: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Nice job Leslie. I'll have to add that to my TBR. Sounds interesting. Would it make a good book club book?

message 382: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H WTG, Leslie! Those words are fine :)

message 383: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Yes, absolutely. There are even questions in the back for a book club. I would love to discuss it with someone.

And thanks, Jennifer! All 4 of my my kids are brilliant and beautiful (of course) but they all are on that end of the spectrum as is my husband. And my oldest daughter manages a genetics lab and does DNA research at Stanford. So this really hit close to home.

message 384: by Dusty (new)

Dusty I read Big Bad Wolf (COS Commando) by Gennita Low by Gennita Low
FINISHED 3/13/14

This is about a military covert team member that the mission went haywire an he almost got killed. He is hiding out tell he finds out if they think he is dead or alive. He gets a job as a roofer an fall in love with his female boss. Really liked this one, hope to find the next one soon.

Turtlecollector Dennis I held off posting this in case I could get another book read that had monster in it, but no such luck.

Week 7: Grandmother/Stool

Once in a Lifetime (Lucky Harbor #9) by Jill Shalvis by Jill Shalvis
read 3/7/14 - 4 stars

I love this series. The town has such interesting characters with meddling gossips and friends who stick together no matter what. In this book, the 'bad girl' in town gets together with one of the the 'town heroes', who just returned from helping save another part of the world.

Items claimed:

grandmother pg 39 "...was seeing Leah's grandma Elsie."

bug pg 48 "...give you the birds-and-the-bees talk?"

long hair pg 18 "Her long blonde hair was loose..."

bread pg 104 "...with the crusty bread crumbs and extra cheese..."

stool pg 5 "...slowly stood up from his bar stool..."
