Ok. This site is Sweet!

Hubby used to play empire building games so that one might hit the sweet spot.
The only video game I played recently (in the past months) was the sega genesis version of Pirates! Gold:

Pirates are awesome.

Of course they also corrected a couple of glitches I'd learned to use in my favor, LOL.

Baldur's Gate was good and it does have a story that carries through but Baldur's Gate 2 is a huge game with hours and hours (and more hours) of playability.

I love Small World! Haven't played it in years. That's one of the problems with having so many games... So many get neglected :-(

Oh! Ty; I'll look.

It does make me want to get a new single player game. :D

Each round one player is the customer (role rotates) and they draw a customer card. Maybe they are a Diva, or a Construction Worker, or a Vampire, or a Geek, there are lots of roles. Everyone else has a hand of cards with nouns on them... The game is to pitch a product to the customer using two cards from your hand. So for instance, in one round the customer was Santa and I had "Finger" and "Blanket" in my hand, so I pitched a blanket that would keep his fingers warm while he flew his sleigh.
It gets pretty random, as there are tons of noun cards. Sometimes you have nothing that makes sense, so you just have to throw some cards together and try to make a good sales pitch. Once everyone makes their pitch, the customer picks the product he would buy and that person wins the role card. First to 5 cards wins, or you can play as long or as little as you want.
I don't know if I'm explaining this well at all.. But it was super fun. We were all cracking up the whole time, it was nice because everyone really got into the whole salesman role and got really creative.

My favorite board game was still the one we used to play at family gatherings. Alll the cousins would get together and play Slang Teasers. It was like the original Balderdash, only way funner for some reason. It might have been because no one really played to win and the definitions we would come up with. Generally we all declared victory whenever we could make whomever had to read out the definitions laugh.
That Snake Oil Card Game sounds like we'd have just as much fun with it.

Cancelled the card and so far I haven't found anything on another card. Have to watch the statements for a while. Praying it's not some full blown identity theft.
sigh.

I stopped at a Boston Market once and got dinner. The next week my card was used in Miami, FL for all types of things.

Really messes with your peace of mind for a while doesn't it?

That happened to my boss! Somehow someone was able to get their hands on a business check. They then made numerous false withdrawals.
The guys were caught but only because they got greedy. :(
I was born in 1987.
20 years ago, there appeared games like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and Quake, and I guess those defined the modern video/computer game. Atari games are too hardcore for me, but I'm fine with NES and afterwards. I believe the last revolutionary and must have games were Unreal & Unreal Tournament. Basically, I would not need any game that appeared after the year 2000.
Yes, there are GTA and The Elder Scrolls, but the first games of the series (insert plural here) already appeared during the 90ies. Only the graphics got better.

My favorite is Eldritch Horror! I also enjoy Pandemic, Puerto Rico and I'm just now realizing a lot of games I don't know the names of. I always just tell my brother I like the one with the beans, or the ogres and he knows what I mean.
Table top gaming counts in this thread, right?

I'm back to having a weekly D&D (second edition) game now and enjoying it "a whole bunch". I'm getting back into my miniatures again. (This is not really a bad thing as I have hundreds of unpainted minis I'd saved back when i was playing regularly).

I say board games count. In fact, check out message 90... My husband and I are sort of into them as well :-)

I'll ask J to look for a copy for you. He's much better at that stuff than I am, he's a board game buying ninja.

Overpriced though, it should cost $50 or less. I got my copy for $40 a year or two ago.

Yeah. CoolInc sells them for $49.99 when in stock. The cheapest one at Amazon was $79.99. :-(
I discovered the old Fighting Fantasy series of solo RPG gamebooks some days ago:
I'm still quite amazed something like this was ever produced. I read Choose Your Own Adventure style books as a child, but these books have (in most cases) a classical fantasy setting and dynamic elements like turn- and stat-based combat and an inventory.
By the way, they are also quite practical, since you can both play a RPG and work towards your reading challenge at the same time ;-).

Incidentally, if you're into that sort of thing you might want to check out Project Aon. It basically makes them available for free, with the author's blessing.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try to check it out.

So Amazon now has a copy for $59.99 - which is $10 MORE than Cool, Inc but CI is still showing out of stock.
Plaid Hat Games is in stock but for $75.
Should I buy the Amazon one? Is this game worth $60??

Just started Flight from the Dark.
I already have the impression that the combat, skill and inventory system is much more sophisticated than the ones utilized in the Fighting Fantasy series.

I know!! I love those old SIM games where you city build. He won't play those, either.
