Having said that, I now have a few questions for you.
When did you read it? Was it old or new then? Where did you find it--library, bookstore, thrift store?
Oh thank you.I did not know that. I think I read it in the year 2003. I think it was new. I found it in the school library.

Middle-school friends Joe and Katie are avid players of DragonSteel, a fantasy card game that strongly resembles Yu-Gi-Oh! They purchase a computer version of the game at a mysterious store (the store conveniently vanishes once they step outside), and playing it literally sweeps them into the DragonSteel realm. There they are the "chosen ones" who must find five pieces of an amulet before an evil force beats them to it.

Based on the ending described, it's definitely Amulet of Komondor; someone was searching for the same book on this list before, and only remembered the puppy part.

The book cover was orange. Might have a couple of color gems and a sword.
The language was English and written in a young teen words.
Here are some of the scenes I remember.
In the beginning the boy and girl was playing a card game in a class. The boy had one rare card and the girl had 4. She won the game between them and was able to collect all 5 rare cards. The cards then magically told them to go to the mall. They went to the mall and found a store that some luring glow. They are the only two that could enter the store. They went in and a weird guy try to sell them some stuff. One was a magic box that had unlimited wishes but the teens didn't believe it would work. The guy then reveal a game based on the card game. The teens was so psyche, they bought the game. When they went out of the store, they ran into the boy's mom.The boy tried to convince the mom to try out the new store but when they look back, it was a Victoria Secret store. The two teens went to try the game. The game put them into some magic world. The boy became a sorcerer and the girl became a warrior. There was a illustration of the boy having big anime eyes and the girl swinging a sword.
The next scene is the two teens are on a ship with a couple of friends. The new friends ask the boy to summon food for them. The boy open his tome and use a spell and aim at the girl. The food appear as a bunch of meat dishes. The boy reveal in his thoughts that he was vegetarian. The food started to disappear so the friends yell at the boy to add sides. The boy found the spell called "add sides" and cast it which created stuff like ketchup and mustard and made the original food stable. The friends let out a big sigh but the boy slam the book onto the deck and said he was the worst sorcerer ever.
Another scene was the boy grab a different girl into a ride and tried to kiss her because he was jealous that the girl he liked was bonding with another guy. The ride suddenly went up and down. Turns out it was a ride that was a yo yo.
In the end, they battle the weird dude from the store at the school. The dude used a spell to make him into the most powerful being in the universe. It turn him into the most adorable puppy. There was a illustration of the puppy on a cushion. The boy got golden armor and kiss his girl and made a teacher fall by using a spell called monkey business.
