I read this book in Junior High (1995-1998).

I vaguely remember a greyish cover with trees.

It was a story about a family that found some children in the woods, and they take these children in (at least 2, a boy and a girl). The kids age faster than their own children and are quite frail. I recall a snowball fight and the boy gets injured by a snowball. I think at the end of the book the boy is dying because he's older than he should be. I think they were alien children.

This is all I can really remember from the book.
