Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Here is a basic description of what we are looking for, this is not the end all be all list. Feel free to think outside the box and ask questions.

People must be in relation to a being of some kind.

1. Englishman Any man, woman or child born in or currently living in England.

2. Hunter Any being who hunts prey or an item. Will not take Hunter Green

3. Elf Any form of elf (ie Gnomes, Trolls, Keebler, Santa's, Drow) Can be real or fake.

4. Thief One that steals. Would also take burglar, pickpocket, mugger, highwayman, shoplifter, klepto.

5. Fairy Any type of fairy (ie sprite, brownies, shide, pixie) and any spelling ( Fay, Fae, Faery, Faerie). Can be real or fake.

6. Prince Prince is a general term for a male ruler, monarch, or member of a monarch's or former monarch's family. Can be real, imaginary or as an insult. Can be the musician.

7. Princess A female member of a royal family other than the monarch, especially a daughter of a monarch Can be real, imaginary or as an insult.

8. Brother Male sibling. Can be blood relation or just in a brotherhood. Can also be in a religious order.

9. Sister Female sibling. Can be blood relation or in a sisterhood. Can also be in a religious order.

10. Grandmother The mother of one's father or mother. Will take all forms granny, nana, grandma, etc.

Animals can be real, fake or even figures of speech

Animals can be claimed by finding the given word or an animal that fits that general category.

Humans with names/nicknames of animals will not work. Animal words used as verbs will not work ie snaked, wolfed, dogged, bear (a weight)...

11. Monster a strange or horrible imaginary creature (vampire, werewolf, Frankenstein, devil, demon, mutant) Will not take highly successful ie monster success.

12. Frog will also take toad, will not take hooks, holders or horse hoofs.

13. Bear brown, black, polar, panda, teddy

19. Wolf grey wolf, red wolf, werewolf, maned wolf, African wild dogs, coyote

Misc items are a little more like abstract ideas, and open to more interpretation.

21. Dream Can be while sleeping, a vision or a belief. Nightmare is acceptable.

22. Long Hair Any length of hair past the shoulders.

23. Nudity Any form of nudity, partial or whole. will take naked and bare, in the right context.

24. Girl in Red a female wearing any read clothing or footwear. Does not have to be fully dressed in red.

25. Story Any tale or book reference within the story of the book. Must give the title of the story, not just a reference from another story.

26. Fictional Place A place that does not really exist in the setting of your book. For Example the Emerald City is a fictional place and in most books a reference would work. However, if you are reading The Wizard of Oz it is a real place for those characters so it wouldn't count in that book.

27. Wind Any stream of air ie. breeze, gale, storm, hurricane

28. Unusual Name Looking for a first name, not a surname. For simplicity sake any name that has never been in a top 200 name list. baby name finder link

29. Short Person I am not going to put a set height on short, just as long as the text implies they were short, or felt short. And it wouldn't have to be an adult.

30. Fictional Character A person that does not really exist in the setting of your book. For Example Toto is a fictional dog and if some one said, "I don't think we're in Kansas any more, Toto", Toto would be a fictional character reference. However, if you are reading The Wizard of Oz he is a real character in that book so it wouldn't count in that book.

Props pretty much must be the item, not a lot of wiggle room.

31. Shoe Any kind of foot wear: boot, sandal, heels

32. Flying Ship Any vessel that flies and can carry people: Airplane, spaceship, dirigible, helicopter

34. Tree Can be the word tree or a type: oak, ash, maple, pine

36. Statue Any three-dimensional work of art, as a representational or abstract form in any medium.

37. Key Any thing used to unlock something, not ok as a verb: skeleton key, key card, key to happiness

38. Lamp Any furnishings designed to provide light electrical or gas: light, torch, flashlight

39. Apple Any variety of the common fruit

40. Bridge Any structure carrying a pathway or roadway over a depression or obstacle. Can be figurative or other than the architectural device.

Rosina | 1 comments Items look great. The only one I might have a problem with is flying ship. Would spaceship be acceptable or a dirigible?

message 8: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ So for "Englishman" - if the book is set in England and has a man that grew up there - would that work or does it have to say "Englishman"?

Also - what do you term as short >> for short person? Can it be a child or does it have to be an adult that is short? Less than 5ft tall?

Thanks and glad your computer is fixed :)

message 9: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) The word list looks great, Dawn!!

Space ship, airplane, rocket, dirigible, hot air balloon would all be good.

Yup, any man or woman born in England, or currently lives there would work for Englishman.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Do we HAVE to Native American? I had a hellova time finding that last time.

Does an airoplane, or helicopter constitute a flying ship?

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Some more questions for you.
Singles or plurals please? Sock---> Socks,Bone--->bones,
Shoe---->Shoes,Key--->keys, Tree--->trees??

The roof of someones mouth?

Bones---> Cheekbones Hipbones??
Bridge---> Of nose??
You'd think after all this time I'd know by now! lol.

Blame Mr. R, don't hate me.

Yup, any kind of flying vehicle would work.

message 16: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Ok, the rule on plurals if the item is listed as singular then you only have to find one item, so if you find plural that is at least one so it works. If the item is listed as plural then you have to find more than one, so a singular will not work. But then looking at the list again I se none are plural this round. So simple answer yes you can find a plural of an item.

As for roof and bridge I think I may have allowed something like those in the past rounds maybe not those, but close. I will take them this round.

Bones, any kind will work. Cheekbones and hipbones are good examples.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Just an FYI it will probably be late Sunday or Monday before I update more. I'm out of town tomorrow. I am hosting a big Girl Scout Rally Sunday and I am teaching on Tuesday and don't have a lesson typed up yet.

Kathy - have you read the Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley - you can just read Vance and Jules story (or re-read) if the *right* other items are called to make it work. There are a couple other books he's mentioned in being Native American - I think it was one of the Dream Man series and maybe Own the Wind.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Yup, Melissa! Sure have. Im hoping that Lorelei James will do for this round! Im up to Rough, Raw, and Ready (Rough Riders, #5) by Lorelei James Trevs wife is Native American, (I think) Someone is anyway! Thats the only one ive found so far! Last round I used Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston I have lost my page with my books on it, and only have the code I use, so I don't know what other books I found it in! Im being more careful this round!!

message 22: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ #2 might have it as the MC male is a Native American - although I don't remember if that phrase is in the book. Rode Hard, Put Up Wet

message 23: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Mercy Thompson is native american, Kelly Armstrong has native american characters in her YA series Darkness Rising.

message 32: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Thanks Dawn!

message 33: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1 comments Would wolf whistles be acceptable for wolf?

message 34: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Rosina wrote: "Would wolf whistles be acceptable for wolf?"

Yeah, I'd say that falls under figure of speech.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Someone saying a" Rats ass" For rat?

wing Mirrors for wing?

Lamp-post for lamp?

Bear hug for bear?

Would 'You don't steal?' cover thief?

Speaking with an English accent leads us to think the person was born in UK, is that acceptable?

message 36: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Kathy, Rat, lamp, bear are all yup, they are covered in the definitions.

'You don't steal?' implies they are NOT a thief. If the question was 'You stole that?' then it would work but the negative in there makes them not a thief.

I think English accent is just a tad weak, I'll take it if it is the best you've got in the book. Accents can be faked, but as long as your book is implying that the person was born in the UK or at least raised there to get an authentic accent then yeah it can work.

message 37: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Bonus word: wing - will you take ...must have been the medical wing..... or does it need to refer to a wing like on a fairy, gargoyle etc something like that such as demonic wings.
And if memory serves the bonus words can NOT be plural if it isn't plural in the list, correct?

message 38: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) ~Melissa~ wrote: "Bonus word: wing - will you take ...must have been the medical wing..... or does it need to refer to a wing like on a fairy, gargoyle etc something like that such as demonic wings.
And if memory ..."

Plural is ok. In round 3 Wing was animal/creature wing. I think I took plane wing too. I don't think building wing is too far off so we will take it this round too.

message 39: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ I have both and since plural is good - I'll go with demonic wings - Thanks!

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 1469 comments Would this be acceptable for Fictional Place~A place called Ravenscroft?

message 49: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1 comments For page count. As long as one of the versions is more than 180 pages then the book is acceptable?

message 50: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments I have a fictional place question as well. Would Gilligan's Island be considered a fictional place as long as I am not reading a book about the TV Show?

I can't remember the exact phrase but it's something like ""Where you think you are? Gilligan's Island?"
