Turtlecollector Dennis Would a village name work for fictional place if it is part of story being told to children? I don't know if there is an actual city with that name, Maidan Sabz, but it is used in the context of a bedtime story.

message 52: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann For unusual name, does it have to be the name of a main character, or will any character work?

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Rosina wrote: "For page count. As long as one of the versions is more than 180 pages then the book is acceptable?"

Mostly, if 5 versions say 40 pages and one says 180 I am not likely to believe that it actually is 180 pages. I'd have to research that.

But if most are at 175 and one says 180 I'd take it.

To be sure let me know what the book is, either her or pm.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) wing
Building, plane or animal wings all work.

As far as left or right wing I am going to go with no (unless someone can convisably argue for them), I just don't feel it is really in the theme of what we are looking for.

Phrases such as "under your wing" will work too.

Girl in Red

Girl can be interchanged with any female. And items on the cover are accepted.

Fictional Places

Lauren & Angie- I would need more info is it a fictional place in the setting of your book? See post 4.

JenniferJ- That is exactly what we are looking for. I'll let you decide is the bedtime story a mostly made up story or is it based on truth? If it is made up I'd assume the place was too.

Unusual Name

Steph Ann- Any character is fine.

Rosina- India is currently #49 on the list of names for 2014 so I'd say it's not quite as unusual as it used to be

Will this work for Lady in Red?

"I knew you'd be reasonable. And as for that atrocious outfit-" One more flick and she was back in the garb ot the Service. Red this time.

The characters are talking about The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. So it is a direct reference to a place in a work of fiction that is different from the book I'm reading.

I'm pretty sure it's a made up story, but I will finish the book and then decide.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Thanks Dawn. This is a very challenging item but that's what makes it fun :0)

It's a place that doesn't exist in the human world according to my book. I get can get you a better quote from the book later if that helps.

Katherine (katdylan) Would a dream place work for fictional place?

Example, the character dream is on fairyland, or a desert island, etc.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) For Girl in RED...... It sounds like her hair may be dyed?

Mom shrugged, twisting her garish red hair around one finger.

Or this from the same book....

The embroidered design on the corset was different. Last night it had been red roses.

Story, Will this work?

You made up
that story about borrowing money from the Mafia?”

WIND, "Knocked the wind out of me"??

For statue, does it need to be inanimate object or is a person acceptable, in this instance?....and his body stiffened OR but he remained stiff
in her embrace.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Damn!! lol Ive started my book and just realised, my choices for wing are as follows....

This thing was still running on a wing and a prayer.
Whatever.

AND
Lash’s hand on my back just over my ass, Brutus Lash’s wingman.
I meant to ask and forgot!

~Melissa~ Girl in red >>> will a V neck red sweater and black skirt (description of MC female's attire) work? No worries if not just wasn't sure if it had to be a dress or cape?

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Melissa, Dawn said she doesnt have to be fully clothed in red

Danielle Book Boss (daniellebookboss) | 434 comments Would la la land count for fictional place?

message 70: by Katya (new)

Katya Question......in my book they talked throughout the book (several times)about a story "the troubadour tale of Accusain and Laurette" And in one part the hero acted out the part of Accusain.....walking nude through the gates of a castle to prove his love for Laurette.

Would this count for "Story?" or "Fictional Character?"

Red corset is good,
Story and wind are good.

Statue needs to be an inanimate object. or at least compare to a statue.

message 80: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) would red splotches on a girls face work for girl in red? Stretching it I know. Or what about red hair?

Ghost in the Stacks For flying ship, would a Dragon work? They do fly, and carry people. I have Dragonflight from the Dragonriders of Pern I was thinking of reading.
Sorry if Dragon was already asked about. I skimmed through the thread, but didn't notice it.
Thanks.

P.S.
I am really enjoying this challenge Dawn! Thanks for doing all this hard work. I know it must take up quite a bit of time.

Yup. To some they believe it a real place, but not everyone believes that so I'll take it as fictional place.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) ~Leslie~ wrote: "would red splotches on a girls face work for girl in red? Stretching it I know. Or what about red hair?"

Stretching it just a bit too far. I am going to go with no. It is a girl in red, not a red girl. She should be wearing something red. :(

If the dragon has some sort of deck attached to it's back and is carrying a a load of people... that might be pushing it but I might let it go. But just a dragon with a rider on it would not be a "ship".

Katherine (katdylan) Would this “Do be a dear now and tell him you tried to steal food. work for thief?

Turtlecollector Dennis are either of these enough to imply hunter? The people referred to are not actually currently hunting anything, but have at some point.

"...picks up her father's hunting rifle."

"He loves to hunt."

That sentence is a bit iffy. It is someone telling them to admit to stealing. There isn't an omission of guilt there. If the est of the paragraph implies the person did TRY then yes. But that sentence no.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Would this be Ok for Story?
"From bones I rose and Bones I
became, he’d said when he told me the
story of how he chose his name after
waking up as a vampire in a graveyard"

The fictional place, can it be a building or do you want a place as in village ,town, planet, etc.

Is AFRICAN-AMERICAN classed as NAtive American?

message 95: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Ok first up, I am sorry for the delay on posting points. My computer monitor went out, I can't find the cords to the back up monitor. So if I can't find it I'll be spending several hours at the library computers updating all the points.

Answering questions is hard on my phone so hopefully these sense.

Kathy, yes to story. For fictional place I suppose it could be a building. I can't think of any fictional buildings right now but if you've got one go for it. African American is not the same as Native American. Think American Indian.

Lizzie, yes English humans will work.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Hey all since I don't currently have a computer, and it's a snow day here the kids are not going to let me hang out at the library all day here are a few details about the items to help.

Be sure to check out the top of the first page for all the details on mattress.

Fire needs to be actual fire or flames. Not fired from a job or gun fire. It could be figurative fire like, " the fire in his eyes " , would be ok.

Danielle Book Boss (daniellebookboss) | 434 comments Does figuritive wind work? Just for information purposes, a statement like "I stormed out as if pushed by some strong wind"?

message 100: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Yes Danielle that would work.
