Ashlee | 309 comments Oh god, I'm only a few chapters into Silver in the Blood (Silver in the Blood, #1) by Jessica Day George and already I'm struggling...might pick this back up later but I'm really not sure this one's for me :s

Islam Ahmed (islamahmed0904) | 268 comments Okay, I've come to vent my frustration. I'm reading a ebook version of These Broken Stars, but I can't read it now because my intrepid nook is acting up. So now I have to settle for City of Bones (which is a wonderful book) but I've read it about 600 times already, and I want to read the book I didn't yet finish reading which TBS, but I can't and it's frustrating, hence my venting.

That does suck Islam and I feel your pain. This is exactly the reason why I refuse to part with my first Kindle even-though I have a Kindle Touch LOL! Just in case I need a backup Kindle in an emergency :P but, can you read TBS eBook on a laptop or desktop? or your phone?

I have seen mixed reviews on this book. I wanted to read it so bad, but when I read the first few pages they let you see on Amazon I'm not sure. May wait to see if the library has it. They shouldn't be allowed to have nice covers if the book is a dud :)

Hahahaha! I love your Kricket digest Ash :D and agree on your Trent-Kyon comps I too liked both characters a lot and think they were perfectly written/developed in this story. I can't say enough good things about this series and the way AAB wrote/handled all 3 books.

Yep I am completely the same! And it's even worse when there are great reviews to match the cover (which was the case before SitB was released, but the rating has now gone way down)

I get most of my books on kindle though so I can return it no questions asked within a year of buying it - if I haven't read it by then I'll definitely be getting my money back!

Oh Belkis you should give BL a chance anyway! I know of a couple of people who have read BL before VA - there will be some spoilers for VA but it won't take away from the actual story if you haven't read VA as it's completely different and anything that crosses over from VA is explained

Sydney is an awesome narrator and Adrian...just...sigh...

Definitely worth the read!

BEWARE of the audiobook! Lol it's actually a pretty decent narration by the same girl who does the Age of X series, but for some reason she gives Adrian a weird British accent! It's like part British part Aussie part American...all REALLY weird!! Lol it's not until the fourth book when they get an American guy to co-narrate for Adrian's chapters that she realises she's been screwing it up for the previous six books

Apart from that, though, the audio is actually very good lol

I have to say that i thought VA was good for the most part until the last few books. Then i thought it was.... not good (im being respectful). I just hate it when things get ridiculous and magically work out. Hmmmm i digress. Like i said, BL is good but im not done yet. I need to read SS which i heard some negative things about. :/

Yep, I couldn't get into VA and I tried. I thought the first book was a good start and I even made myself push through the second one but by the end I still wasn't gripped by the story so didn't continue the series. I'm going to give BL a try and see how it goes :P

Yeah there are a few bits of SS which, having already read it, I skip past on my re-reads...just very fist-clenching wanna jump through the book and slap someone kind of stuff...but on the whole I really enjoyed it - the first three BL were definitely the best though!

I still really enjoyed the whole VA series but I hated the love triangle in the last two books - it was just so weak and place-holderish- I hate LTs like that

I've had 2 nooks. Both have let me down and I will never get one again. Instead I use my tablet and just downloaded the kindle and nook apps to use on that. I find that to be the best option too. I have apps on my iPad and my laptop and my iPhone LOL! But I do love my Kindle Touch for reading though. It's so light and easy to take with me in my purse along with my iPhone so I'm always covered whether I want to read an eBook or listen to an audiobook :)
